trrrip Posted February 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2016 Has anyone ever taken a taxi from Livorno port to Pisa one way only. Is there taxis willing to do the one way journey, are they close to ship, and approximate cost. Any information/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
twin123185 Posted February 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2016 When our shuttle let us off in Livorno there were a couple of people with signs to go to Pisa. It was cheap as I recall but can't remember the price.
kuldalai Posted February 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Why would you want to take a taxi when there is a perfectly good and frequent direct train service from Livorno Centrale to Pisa Centrale . NB: If you want to visit the Field of Miracles and the Leaning Tower then alight at Pisa Rossore station, which is nearer .

Rare dronnygirl Posted February 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We had a lovely day out - we took the train from Livorno to Lucca (change at Pisa) and had a lovely morning walking round and had lunch there. We then took the train from Lucca back to Pisa and had a couple of hours there which was plenty. We then took the train back to Livorno. We had a long day in port so had plenty of time but our view was that, if time was running out, we would then have taken a taxi back from Pisa to the ship. kuldalai Posted March 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Can you give me a walk through on this as I am from Canada and we do not use trains:) Would like to go to the leaning tower Easy peasy !!!! 1. Weekday trains from Livorno Centrale to Pisa Centrale & Pisa Rossore at 0919, 1012, 1212 with a change of trains at Pisa Centrale for Pisa Rossore . 40 - 60 minutes total travel time. Pisa Rossore station comes AFTER Pisa Centrale . You can get a taxi or Bus from out front Pisa Centrale station to the Field of Miracles. 2. Alternatively change trains at Pisa Centrale and alight at first stop 4 minutes later at Pisa Rossore station which is 19 minutes walk from Field of Miracles , or taxi . Walking directions from Pisa Rossore station : google.com.au/maps/@43.7236223,10.3860213,16z 3. Return Weekday trains from Pisa Rossore 1409, 1441, 1508, 1508, 1518, 1538, 1546, 1608 all requiring a change of trains at Pisa Centrale for Livorno Centrale . Again 40 - 60 minutes travel time. Above trains all Regionale, not requiring seat reservations . 4. With the Leaning Tower numbers are strictly limited and admitted in 15 minute batches. Do not just bowl up and expect to get it as it is usually booked out days in advance . You book on line here via LT website date and time specific, and pre print vouchers at home . Then bowl up on the day and exchange vouchers at the Cassa (Cashier) on arrival for your admission tickets . Standing at the base of the entry door to the LT look to your LEFT and the Cassa & Cloak Room are on the LHS side across the lawn . Tickets here : opapisa.it/en/tickets/buy Bookings open around 8 weeks in advance, and you book in 15 minute time slots for admission, but spend around 30 minutes in tower . Be there well in advance of your booked time, as absolutely no late admissions . 5.If you can afford it is quicker to alight at Pisa Centrale station and get bus or taxi from there to Field of Miracles. Avoids the change of trains and save time hanging around for the connecting train to Pisa Rossore . Return times from Pisa Centrale Station on Weekdays to Livorno Centrale are at 1401, 1412, 1432, 1509, 1532, 1545, 1553, & 1608 . The Italian phrase for return ticket is : biglietto di ritorno On Italian stations look for the YELLOW sheet which shows all departures in strict time order, Arrivals are on a WHITE sheet again in strict time order . Hope this helps . 6. For those going to Lucca by train . Train from Livorno Centrale to Pisa Centrale (30 minutes), then change trains for local train to Lucca another 30 minutes . euro cruiser Posted March 15, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 15, 2016 There are no stops between Livorno Centrale and Pisa Centrale. A taxi from Pisa Centrale to the Piazza dei Miracoli should run between 10 - 15 Euro, depending on traffic.
