Missywantstotravel Posted February 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Can someone tell me where smoking is allowed on the LOS? My boyfriend and I are going on the Thanksgiving cruise and he is a smoker. I want to show him where he will be able to smoke freely on board the ship, so any help would be appreciated. One side of the pool deck 11 has a smoking area. Inside you can smoke in most of the casino and the Connoisseur Club on deck 5 near the Star Lounge. Prior to dry dock there were ash trays built in on the port side of Deck 12 so that may still be smoking too, but not positive about that. This ship has nice, comfortable smoking areas and your boyfriend will have no problem.
Deatsch Posted February 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2016 You might want to tell your boyfriend that his time for smoking on cruise ships is on the downhill slide. Pretty soon it will all be DONE!

cheezwiz Posted February 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Tell your boyfriend that he will find very nice people in the smoking areas with whom he will enjoy spending time. I no longer smoke but still stop for a drink & chat in those areas. Have a great cruise!!

Just a personal opinion but I think cigarette smoking in the Connoisseur Club - which as you indicated is a cigar lounge - taints the aroma of fine cigars. But it is the other inside venue that allows smoking and does not differentiate as to type. ;)

I have heard that from cigar smokers, and that was the reason I mentioned it being a cigar lounge.:)
Zou Bisou Bisou Posted February 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Considering they have their own smoking lounge (cigar or otherwise), I sure wish they would make the casino smoke free. Luckily the British pub is smoke free and Derek Lewis and his adult day care are back. Looking forward to the day when the casino is smoke free. Shouldn't be too long. decker12 Posted February 28, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) On the Liberty there's almost too many places to smoke. I was turned off by the huge smoking area on the pool deck and near the shuffleboard on the 4th floor. I was stuck near the smoking area on the pool deck one day and it made me sick after a couple of hours. Don't try to sneak smokes on your balcony on the Liberty. They will take it very seriously and will ding you $250 every time someone calls it in. We saw it happen twice the last cruise - I was on my balcony, thought I smelled smoke for only a minute, craned my neck to see who was doing it and what deck, and then looked down and saw Security was on the lower decks below us, looking up towards our side of the ship and they instantly knew who was doing it. This was at dusk on a sea day during high winds too, they just seemed to know. Besides the second hand smoke and smell that the other guests will notice, it's a litter and a fire hazard. Coralc Posted February 28, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 28, 2016 OMG. The question was asked and answered. It is not a free for all for anti- smokers to interject their opinions about smoking on cruise ships. And as far as the Connoisseur Club goes..... It is a smoking area. Deal with it. I don't really care what you think about cigarette smokers in there, either. Your boyfriend will find allowable places to smoke on Liberty. :D

If so, where exactly are the areas? Thanks in advance.
impatientlywaiting Posted February 29, 2016 #22 Share Posted February 29, 2016 When we were on Brilliance, the smoke from the casino escaped into the centrum. Unpleasant, all the way up to deck 10. When we were on Jewel you could smell the smoke from the casino halfway down into the main level of the theater. If you didn't want to sit that close to the stage, you had to make sure and get there early enough to get a seat in the balcony to escape the smoke smell. For the same reason reason(s) you disliked the smoking places, I enjoyed it. I found it enjoyable to be able to sit, relax, read a book and/or just converse w/ fellow cruiers and Deck 11, portside, next to the pool is a great spot. As is deck 4 just outside the R Bar and aft elevator bank. For those that don't like the smoking areas, don't go there! It's pretty simple.
