Upgrade Cheers Package

I just read that starting on March 1 they upgraded the Cheers program to include sodas, upgrade in liquor (costs of drinks over $10), water, vitamin water, coconut water and specialty coffee's...my questions are I also read if we prepay this drink package we save $5.00 per day...do we still have to get the sticker for our card to show we have this package at a bar location or do they automatically upon check in give you the sticker, secondly, does this mean they changed the bar menu and raised the costs to some drinks?

The drink prices for smoothies and frozen cocktails were higher on our 2/15/16 sailing. Smoothies were $5.25 and frozen cocktails were $8.25. Not sure about other alcohol prices though.

As per the Q&A from the website:

For those guests that pre-purchase CHEERS!, it will be activated upon boarding the ship (except for ships sailing from Galveston, Mobile and New York). Guests will receive a note in their stateroom advising them to go the bar to receive their sticker which is placed on their Sail & Sign card. In the event guests do not go to their stateroom, once the Sail & Sign card is swiped, it is flagged and the bartender will provide the sticker.

I actually had the same question the other day and ended up finding the answer on the Carnival website.

Cheers!

I know this is a stupid question, but you never know....since the upgraded package is now available as of March 2, I am assuming that the coffees, water and soda do not count towards your 15 maximum drink....I do believe it doesn't but like to hear confirmation because it doesn't state that where I read about the upgraded cheers program. Thank you.

If there is no alcohol in it, the beverage doesn't count towards the 15. Hope this helps. Bill

I had a question that I'm hoping someone will help me with... This new Cheers program-it says "any drink under $50" - I've been on many Carnival cruises (74 days after this year's trip) and I don't recall seeing any single drink anywhere near that price. I've seen a few that were up to $15ish. Anyone have any idea what drinks they're now including that would be over $15-$20 each? I want to get my moneys worth, and I can guarantee I'll drink the best liquor I can get!

I am not aware of any at the moment, but the school of thought is that they will be offering some premium choices of spirits in the (near) future.

I was pre browsing and daydreaming of the things we'll get to try on Sunshine and noticed they have a Shake Spot with some alcoholic milkshakes... are those included in the program?

Oh whoops just noticed someone had just asked this question lol. Thanks for any answers you can give us ;)

25% off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle

What’s NOT included?

Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails

Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses

Bottles of liquor

Beverages offered at gangway while debarking

Beverages offered through room service

Beverages offered in mini-bars

The sharing of cocktails and floaters

Buckets of beer, pitchers of beer, and beer tubes

That is the old Cheers package, the website has not been updated yet. You can tell because it still has the $10.00 limit listed.

Once on board, the cost for CHEERS! is $54.95 USD per person, per day plus gratuities.

Price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

The following beverages are now available within the enhanced CHEERS! program:

CHEERS! Q&A's

The following restrictions apply:

Guests must be 21 years or older to purchase and agree not to give to minors.

Each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program.

Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise - this program is not offered on a per day basis.

Program is non-refundable.

Price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

Only one alcoholic drink at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.

Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.

There is a 5 minute wait time between ordering drinks.

Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! program and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest's Sail and Sign account.

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks.

Program only applicable for onboard purchases during regular operating hours.

All bottles and cans will be served opened

Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).

Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise for voyages departing from our Texas, Alabama and New York home ports. Drinks purchased on the first day of the cruise will be charged to the guest's Sail & Sign card in the usual manner. When purchased on the second day of the cruise, guests are charged for the remaining days only (cruise duration less one day).

CHEERS! is not offered on the following:

2-day cruises

Charter cruises

Ships sailing from Australia (Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend)

Beverage purchases made at Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas

That must be some seriously premium spirits to be worth more than $50 a drink!

Sorry when I said sodas I meant the specialty sodas that I don't think were included before. But thank you all for the info, yay more stuff to try out! This plan is great for people like me who hate trying new things due to the expense and chance of not liking it. :D

Just wondering - does non-refundable mean if I purchase it now that I can't cancel it before my August cruise? And does price adjustment mean that if I purchase it now they'll charge me more if the price goes up between now and then?

We prepay tips and Cheers, they both can be refunded if you don't go on the cruise. And this would be due to the cruise being cancelled, or any acceptable reason, if you cancel through cruise insurance. You would not be upcharged if the price goes up. I, like, some others, when I read the new price and saw it covered up to $50. thought Huh? Since you can't add floaters, or a million other things, not allowed, can't imagine anything close to $50. Most things were close to the old $10. limit, before, but I see prices have gone up. Maybe some pricey cognac? or Scotch?

P.S. Where do you get milkshakes? When were not offered on Cheers, usually just made my own. We always bring tumblers for water, YES, the water is fine to drink from the room. Mixed soft serve ice cream and whatever, Milkshake! But, of course would like the real thing if it is now offered, just don't know where they are on the ship???:)
