JimAOk1945 Posted March 4, 2016 #76 Share Posted March 4, 2016 I don't feel any more motion than on a regular ship. The ship looks more "shippy" than these newer ships, the doors, etc, but, the motion is the exact same, some gentle rocking some nights at bedtime, which I love. This is good to know. I thought we might feel more motion since the Windstar ships are much smaller than the cruise ships we have sailed on. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am really enjoying your review and my wife is eagerly following along while reading over my shoulder. :D
pax2 Posted March 4, 2016 #77 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Hi Keith we are also on 11th March windspirit tahiti. Will provide a review when we get back for you including the much loved menus, drinks list etc. Agree that there isn't much posted about our little yacht but that is about to change. :p

maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #81 Share Posted March 6, 2016 I'm back! Better late than never. Monday was a Sea Day, our only Sea Day of the cruise. Here is the breakfast menu. These looked very healthy. So, of course, I felt myself drawn to these. :D
maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #82 Share Posted March 6, 2016 I ended up getting my favorite, the Eggs Benedict, it was very good. The funny thing was the Canadian Bacon tasted like regular bacon, American Bacon, as it were. I think it was because they crisped it up a little bit. I followed this with a Chocolate Croissant bigger than my head. Then, I had to leave as the buffet was getting too crowded for my taste.
maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #83 Share Posted March 6, 2016 I headed out looking for some excitement, which, since this was Windstar, there wasn't a whole lot to be found. There was a towel animal demonstration. A lot of people showed up for the cooking demonstration, they made Lobster Risotto. This man did all the cooking, while Chef Eddy told us what he was doing. The other man, (they call him Little Man, I wonder why? :p) , his *O*N*L*Y* job was to taste the Risotto. Dang, how do I get this job? Sign me up! maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #84 Share Posted March 6, 2016 This man was making Tiramisu for our dessert. I wasn't sure why they needed Security at the cooking demonstration? I guess to stop us from storming the stage and stealing Little Man's job. Sorry the picture came out so badly, but, here is the Risotto. I didn't get to taste the Tiramisu because that is when the Bridge announced the dolphins were outside (really, where else would they be) and we all ran out to see them. By now, it was time for lunch, I got there early enough to get some pictures before the "crowd" destroyed everything. The Salad Bar.
maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #85 Share Posted March 6, 2016 The lunch menu. I got the Caesar Salad with Buffalo Chicken. And, the fajitas. I don't think I ate these correctly, but, they sure tasted good! And, even though it was from the previous day, I wanted to post the picture of the Chicken Shawarma, because it did look impressive. This is Michael, I would like to marry him and take him home and have him cook for me everyday.
maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #86 Share Posted March 6, 2016 You'll never guess what I had for dessert. Then, it was time to head down to my cabin for a bit. Until, this blocked me. What? This is ridiculous! I'm going up to the bridge to give them a piece of my mind. On my way to the bridge, this is one of the "shippy" details I talked about earlier. When was the last time I had to go through a door like this on a deck? Oops. that picture seems a little risque, with all the legs sticking out. Let's see if I can take a better one. Yes, that's more like it. Well, here's the problem, there's no one manning the bridge! I confidently took control of the ship.
maureencruiser Posted March 6, 2016 Author #87 Share Posted March 6, 2016 Iceberg, right ahead! :D:D Interesting, I thought this said there were 266 passengers, now, I see it is 246. 195 crew to serve 246 passengers, that's impressive. When I was done mucking about, it was time to go pose for my King of the World shot. They're emailing those photos to me, should be here in a few days. I'll post them when I get them. Host Walt Posted March 7, 2016 #88 Share Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Thanks again Maureen, for posting a great "live from..." I still can't get over the number of offerings available to just 246 (or even 266) passengers. Better yet my wife just came home from a cooking class that featured a variety of risotti (I'm guessing that's the plural of risotto) and it's amazing how difficult it can be to make properly. I loved reading your review, you have a great style of writing! Did you book directly w/Windstar? I also cruise solo and would love to find a bargain cruising with Windstar- looks amazing! Looks like you had a great time! Cheers:)

CathyK2 Posted March 14, 2016 #97 Share Posted March 14, 2016 Then, it was time to head down to my cabin for a bit. Until, this blocked me. What? This is ridiculous! I'm going up to the bridge to give them a piece of my mind. /IMG] LOL...yes, that caught us off guard the first night. Trying to get back to our cabin was quite the feat since we started at the opposite end of the ship and had no idea as to the placement of these doors. We were next door to our son but yet since the water tight door was between us "you can't get there from here". hahahahaha.

I wonder whether she might be busy planning another cruise. :D Jim, I imagine she isn't posting any more on this thread since all of her notes here were while she was actually on the ship. But yes, hoping she's planning her new adventure and will be able to share that one with us as well.
JimAOk1945 Posted March 20, 2016 #100 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Jim, I imagine she isn't posting any more on this thread since all of her notes here were while she was actually on the ship. But yes, hoping she's planning her new adventure and will be able to share that one with us as well. Yes, I think you are right. I saw some comments she made on another thread about a cruise she is planning but I hoped she would come back with a follow-up to this thread. I like her entertaining but informative writing style, especially to someone like me who has never cruised on Windstar but hopes to in the future. Thanks for you comments, and happy cruising wherever you may go.
