mrizer7773 Posted March 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Would love to get an idea of some of the tuxedos that you or your significant other have worn on past cruises! Curious if most have worn the standard Black tux. Thanks! :)
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I wear different kinds but change them up with ties or even vests. Often we match the tie I wear to the dress my wife wears. I have a traditional black one. Also one that has plaid stripes that we had made in Hong Kong as well as a white dinner jacket with tuxedo pants. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZQo-LTRnKnA/VuBdcCy3ZNI/AAAAAAAAy6s/3I3MJrQOc1U/s1600/FRA_7123.jpg https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ochH8-pNxHM/VuBdvsLLktI/AAAAAAAAy6w/MjFVBVtMqKg/s1600/RIC_2863.jpg I also have a few different shirts. This one has some black stripes. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VA_-L6gWbkw/U2caluiG-JI/AAAAAAAAluw/RHLel6uH9H4/s1600/CAT_6913.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LVvLdWsq85Q/UVmYyHHAhTI/AAAAAAAAfBY/23CwFSidvdg/s1600/1709.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8P0eK6Htljs/UVmZPC4H3zI/AAAAAAAAfCo/KNfxt_gXGXg/s1600/0804.jpg Keith

Impressive looks there! Thanks for the share!
Andee Posted March 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2016 DH wears a classic black tux, with bowtie and cummerbund. He has 2 sets of studs, one from my Dad and one from my grandfather. Matching his accessories to my dress would remind me too much of prom pictures.
shipgeeks Posted March 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Classic black wool. Classic white shirt, grandfather's cufflinks and studs. Self-tie silk bowtie; black at least once, grey and red pattern one for variety. Bond, James Bond.
iheartbda Posted March 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2016 Classic black with typical accessories.
jerrymanos Posted March 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2016 I actually wear white tie and tails on many formal nights. My wife always wears long, beautiful formal gowns, and she likes my tuxedos, so that's what I wear. Jerry of Jerry and Lady Kathryn

Rare Keith1010 Posted March 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2016 This varies by cruise line. Some wear white while others black while some vary them from time to time. Keith
jerrymanos Posted March 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 20, 2016 I don't have formal night photos because Lady Kathryn is very camera shy, but I happened to be looking at youtube Cunard ballroom videos one day and was very surprised to find a video that included the two of us dancing. We are the fourth couple to show up on this video - and also the last. Lady Kathryn is the platinum blonde in the black and white dress and I am the guy with the dark hair and the beard. This video is a couple of years old, but is representative of what one sees on Cunard for formal night. Jerry of Jerry and Lady Kathryn

Dunnik Posted March 26, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) I wear different kinds but change them up with ties or even vests. Often we match the tie I wear to the dress my wife wears. Lookin' good, Keith. That's how its done. I long ago inherited my father's black mohair tux from the 60's (with velvet lapels and pant stripe) which fits me to a T and is still in great shape, but alas I won't be packing it for my upcoming cruise, as it would be overkill with a capital O. Funny: your tuxes are working as intended - everyone's eye should not be drawn to the guy in the tux, no matter how well turned out, but to the lady at his side. Men's formal wear can never upstage women's. Edited March 26, 2016 by Dunnik
nolatravelgirl Posted March 28, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Thought about wearing a white or off-white tux, but was curious if the wait staff in the restaurants and MDR wear white... ??? Just to make one thing clear "white tie" is VERY different than an all white tuxedo. All white tuxedos remind me of bad prom outfits while "white tie" is the utmost of formality. For more information on white tie see the following link http://www.tie-a-tie.net/white-tie-guide.html You may also be confusing a white dinner jacket, but it does not get paired with white trousers. http://www.blacktieguide.com/Classic/Warm_Weather.htm
shamu718 Posted April 9, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Here is one of the whole family from our last cruise. The guys kept with basic black for this cruise. Not sure why the youngest is wearing sunglasses!
