In a way, I'm not surprised but that's quite a change.

China is becoming such a huge market it's no real surprise, maybe it will be good for us in that lines might send some better ships down if they can share them between here and China.

It's not a China story, so much as about the Australian market.

 

Carnival were already deploying a different ship to China. As part of this announcement, that is no longer happening, and instead Spirit is being sent there.

 

That means it's not about China, but that the market here has died down here for Spirit. That's been evident in both pricing (with prices a lot lower than they used to be) and the tactical withdrawal of Legend as well.

The pricing is definitely lower, we leave on the Spirit on the 23rd of this month. 10 nights for $1049.00 pp. and $100.00 OBC for a balcony cabin midships on deck 8 that normally costs just over $1700.00.

I remember seeing something about the Carnival Legend being scheduled or booked in to the Sydney OPT all year round in 2018.
