Thinking of staying at this Marriott for one night

pre-cruise, any information would be appreciated. Safe area, location from airport, also to downtown and POM. cost?, any shuttle service to the port.

Don't even think about it unless you are flying in on Saturday and sailing on Sunday. If a weekday is involved fighting the gridlock either between the Airport and Dadeland, or Dadeland and Downtown Miami, is not worth it even if your stay is free.

This hotel is located in an office park inside the triangle of a massive traffic junction of three major roads (Palmetto Expressway, Kendall Dr and S Dixie Hwy/US 1). It is a dozen miles from the airport in the wrong direction from the port; port is a 15-20 mile ride depending on the route. Though the hotel website says they offer a shuttle from the airport for $10/person, so you might want to call the property direct to see if they can arrange one to the port as well. But unless some sort of attraction in the Dadeland or Kendall area is on your bucket list there is absolutely no reason to schlep that far away from the airport and port into suburbia.

While the dadeland Marriott is a pretty decent hotel I agree its pretty much out of the way and going further from the port.

The only thing going for that Marriott is it's close proximity to Dadeland Mall which is a very nice mall. The Falls Mall is a little more south also.

It is also the end of the line or the beginning of the line for the Miami people mover or what ever they call it.

If you prefer the Marriott brand there are several other better options that may appeal to you for a one night pre cruise stay.

I hate to pile on but that is a horrible location for anything but the mall.

We don't give distances in miles down here but in minutes. On a weekday you'd be lucky to get to port in under 40 minutes.

My friend who still lives in West Kendall talks in terms of hours in traffic jams, not minutes. Funny how things changed, I lived and shopped and worked in that area for years. Could not pay me to return.

When we sailed from POM we booked hotel in Miami Springs near airport where I lived before moving to West Kendall.

What wonderful memories of days gone by.
