Seward to Anchorage Transfer Advice

We get in on Celebrity's Millennium on Friday, July 29th. Was hoping to take the train but it leaves too late in the day for us to make our flight later that same day.

 

Would appreciate any advice you may have on the best transfers (and/or tours) that will get us to Anchorage.

Our flight is not until 11:35pm that night so we have a full day to kill.

In my opinion, the best way is to rent a car from Hertz and drive it.

We used the ACT bus for transfer from Anc. to Seward last fall with a stop at a wildlife center.

It appears you may be able to do the all day tour if there is availability. Personally I'd like to do my own driving, but cost is a factor and Alaska is weighed on a cost vs benefit analysis!

your options include: rental car, Park Connection Bus, Seward Buslines, cruiseline transfer, independent transfer, taxi .

 

At this late date, I doubt that Hertz has any cars available in Seward. Doesn't cost anything to ask. Maybe you can find someone on your roll call who would share the cost with you ???

 

If you do the ACT tour/transfer you end up at the airport at 5 pm for $150pp. It will be tough to kill those few hours between 5pm and 9pm.

Personally I'd go for the earliest transfer, pick up a rental car at the airport for about $100, then explore from noon to 9pm. With the car you could backtrack to Girdwood (45 minutes) to visit the Wildlife Center, Portage Lake/Glacier, walk to Byron Glacier, Alyeska Resort,

Celebrity will likely have a train transfer option available for you that leaves first thing in the morning. You arrive in Anchorage around 2:00 p.m. You could then rent a car for the day and explore Anchorage.

But I would opt for the early morning direct transfer option ($45.00pp) 2-3 hour drive directly to ANC we were there approx 10:30am...rent a car and then explore on my own.

We are on the same cruise and are booked on the early ACT bus to ANC, without the tour.

If this is similar to the cruise train transfer option that RCI offers (Seward-ANC) it get's into ANC at 11:30am.

Thanks for the great advice. Had checked rental cars in Seward but they were $350ish. Had not thought about the quick transfer and then $100 car in Anchorage. Just booked both.

If you booked direct with RCI, just contact them, otherwise, do the request through your booking agent.
