Are you constantly locking yourself out off your own stateroom because of the lighting/keycard system they use on the new cruise ships? Check this video out, I found it very useful and informative.

We've never used our key card. Just a folded slip of paper. But I wouldn't lock myself out since we turn off lights when we leave the cabin. ;)

I am sure that your father, Harry Potter, would tell you to stick your wand in the light switch. You do NOT have to use you S&S card.

Yep - any plastic or cardboard card works

They are all the same size

 

Exactly. AARP, AAA, redeemd Carnival Gift Card, even a folded up tear off strip of the fun times works. Never been locked out.

 

I may leave the small bedside lamp on, especially if I have an inside cabin, otherwise I turn off the lights.

 

I can't figure out why the majority of my cabin stewrds leave the bathroom light on though?
