Mmm, very interesting. We booked 1H and 1K, and have been charged £60 each. Guess a call to P&O is in order......

 

I can agree. I have just booked 1G and 1J on the flights from BHX to Barbados (Thomson) - total £80 (4 x £20)

Have spoken to the Air Department at P&O, who confirm that for their purposes the configuration and the associated lettering is correctly portrayed on CP, so I am happy now. Was beginning to think that I was a mad old fool!

 

 

Incidentally, whilst I was on hold to them I found this on t'interweb.

 

"On the A330, the premium cabin is configured 2-3-2.

 

Note: Our seat lettering is wrong, it should be A,C - D,F,G - H,K.

 

The cabin comprises seven rows. Note that row seven backs onto a bulkhead and may have reduced recline as a result."

As another has mentioned row 1 seats are charged at £20 not the £60 you were adamant was the cost. Having spoken to P&O did you get a refund ?

 

Last year I had seat 1A and 1C on Thomson Dreamliner and paid £20.00 each

I'm on TC this year and booked 1A and 1C and was charged £60.00 each

 

They are exit seats on TC and I don't remember them being on the Dreamliner so perhaps this is why Thomson is cheaper - bit annoying as I prefer the Dreamliner but it's not flying to St Lucia.

 

Had I had known the normal price was £20.00 I wouldn't have booked them but I just though the price had gone up - my fault for not checking I suppose:eek:

As I though Thomson Premium Bulkhead seats are not Emergency Exit Seats so are regarded as a standard seat priced at £20.

I wonder how long it will be before P&O realise they are missing out on revenue and change the wording to Bulkhead seat not Emergency Exit seat.

Hi, P&O says that Row 1 seats on the Thomas Cook Airbus are charged at £60 and that no refund will be given. They say that it's because those particular seats are emergency exit seats which I pointed out was incorrect. There is a wall between the seats and the exit doors, as said doors are located in the galley. Then she changed her tune and said it was because those seats had additional leg room. However, according to the Advice Centre, there is no additional charge for such seats in Premium; just a charge for standard (£20). I am taking it with 'Customer Services' - wish me luck :(

Totally agree with you, Thomson have an emergency exit the other side of the bulkhead exactly the same as TC so should be same price - £20. Go for it and don't accept a brushoff, go to the top and threaten your future loyality.

 

Gymbod- you should do the same, best of luck to you both. They should apply their rules correctly and fairly.

Thanks I will do, how can they call them emergency exit seats if there are no doors?

Just had a look on SeatGuru https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Thomas_Cook_Airlines/Thomas_Cook_Airlines_Airbus_A330-200.php they say that the legroom may be restricted due to the bulkheads in row1!

Nauticalmiss - did you speak to the flight department or to a Customer advisor?

Hi Gymbod. I spoke to the Flight Department. Have sent a complaint via email to customer services. Currently we have three cruises with P&O over the next year, and we have never made any complaint in the past - but this situation is ridiculous. Thomson and Thomas Cook offer the same product, i.e. Premium Economy seats, but P&O levy two (very) different additional charges for that product. :mad:

Hi Mickey89 - I am so furious that I can't accept a brush-off. Have started via customer services but am happy to go to the top if their resolution is not acceptable. Ridiculous situation.

I am about to complain too as these are not emergency exit seats, I was prepared to leave it if they were emergency exit seats (although not happy) but they are exactly the same as Thomson at £20.00, exit behind the wall . I tried to call my cruise specialist advisor but she's not in at present. I prefer to wait for her, she may not be able to help but will point me in the right direction. Let me know how you get on, any others that have paid this should do the same!:mad:

Result :D- I managed to get through to my personal cruise specialist advisor and she checked out my concerns and agreed with me and has given me OBC to the value of the extra payment which I helps as I don't have much for this cruise so would have spent this onboard anyway :cool:

Hi Gymbod. No. No news yet. P&O have declined to refund the difference. I explained that I have no problem paying to book my seat, but £60???? When Thomson passengers are paying £20 for the same product???? I am a patient woman but am feeling a little peeved right now.............:(

And now they have refused my written request. By year end, we will have spent over £10,000 with P&O this year. Last year, we also spent over £10,000; and next year we have two cruises booked already, costing almost £9,000 between them. To say that I am somewhat disappointed is an understatement :mad:

Hi NauticalMiss it's Gatwick/St Lucia on TC. I also quoted that the leg room is classed as restricted due to the bulk head on seat guru and my advisor also agreed - they need to change the pricing accordingly to match Thomson as they are NOT emergency seats either.

Hi Gymbod. Apologies for not replying; have enjoyed nice weekend away :). I have sent a letter to Christopher Edgington's office; am very interested to see what happens. I have been very loyal to P&O and as a shareholder I know they have to watch profits, etc, but I feel seriously aggrieved. This dubious classification adopted by TC is simply daylight robbery. I hope you don't mind, but in my letter I stated that a fellow passenger (i.e. you!) had just called her PCA and received OBC as a goodwill gesture with no problem. Obviously no names provided. But the disparity in service levels is astonishing, don't you think? Same product, same problem, different outcome. Not good enough. Will keep you posted ;)
