BayouDoc Posted July 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2016 We are taking a cruise along with my daughter's family. Is there any problem with taking our 4 year old (with a different last name) off the ship without his parents along? Do we need separate ID for him? Is his seacard alone enough? Thanks. cherylandtk Posted July 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Usually not a problem, but which port will this be? Which cruiseline? I am assuming both parents will be boarding the ship with the child; you are just taking the child on an excursion in one of the ports. cb at sea Posted July 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2016 All the child will need is his seapass (you carry it, tho!!)...you don't have to identify who is with whom! You may need ID to get back into the port area, but a child under 16 doesn't.

cherylandtk Posted July 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Not a problem at those ports or that line.

I don't know about your cruise line, but on Disney, if an adult that's not in the room that the child is registered in wants to take said child off the ship, without an adult from the child's room, the adults in the child's room has to have a permission waiver signed on file. BayouDoc Posted July 26, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted July 26, 2016 We are all in the GV suite so it shouldn't be a problem on that count
tercar Posted July 26, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 26, 2016 I think for American cruise lines you need a notary to say the parents are allowing you to take them and if they need medical treatment you are able to give the go ahead
Rare LHT28 Posted July 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Mexico may require a letter from the parent to say you are allowed to take the child ashore Or just have the parent take the child off the chip then hand them over to you once onshore Edited July 26, 2016 by LHT28
