TrinaLC Posted August 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2016 Title pretty much says it all. Frequent cruiser, but have never done more than stuff a few quarters into a slot machine. Logged into carnival to price an upcoming vacation, and was given a special casino rate. (It wasn't that special, but about $80 less.) Is this unusual? First time I've seen such an offer. Thought they went only to high casino users. Also, and more importantly, are there any strings attached? Expected to register in the casino or anything? I still wouldn't plan on spending any time or money there - its not my thing (though I have plenty of other "vices"!)
Supafry Posted August 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2016 Well it's not a free cruise but 80$ is 80$. You gambled enough to earn the small discount. Comps are based on past play so you don't "owe" the casino anything if you take them up on the offer. If you don't play on this trip the offers may just simply go away. HawkIVette Posted August 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2016 Some casino offers are not only a little cheaper when booking, but come with other perks in the casino. My upcoming December cruise was only $40 cheaper than if I booked other offers, but came with $300 cash in the casino. I called to verify that I could go to the casino cage and get $300 Cash (not chips) from them when I get on board. Might want to call Carnival and see what other perks you might get with your offer. I still wouldn't plan on spending any time or money there - its not my thing (though I have plenty of other "vices"!) No strings attached. There are different types of casino offers. Some are simply discounts while other come with fun casino events (included-no extra cost), drinks on card, casino cash. Call your PVP and ask what type of casino offer you got and what perks come with it. I've got 2 casino offers booked right now. One was a freebie where I only had to pay taxes and port charges, and the other is a premier casino offer that was a discount that comes with casino cash and perks. Enjoy! amyh13 Posted August 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2016 My husband spends more time in the casino than I do but he does not spend a lot of money. We have smallish kids so we are in the cabin usually before 10:30. Occasionally he will go back in the evening if I am willing to hang with the kids but usually only once a cruise. He just got an offer. Nothing earthshaking at all and it doesn't come with any casino cash or perks from what I can tell but it is cheaper than anything that shows up in my offers. melonhead Posted September 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Are you guys just happening to go to your carnival account and looking for the offers or do you get contacted?
BuckeyeCruiseGuy Posted September 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Are you guys just happening to go to your carnival account and looking for the offers or do you get contacted? It will be listed under your VIFP offers. They will also usually send you the same offer in the mail. They have these offers for me several times a year and I only use the casino to pull OBC off my account. About 10 years ago I use to gamble $50-$75 a night at the tables. I just booked a decent casino rate last week, this time without any casino cash. Edited September 17, 2016 by BuckeyeCruiseGuy
typintotravel Posted September 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Also got casino offer - play probably every night but not much. Just a few dollars off but hey, more in my pocket. Got email notice about it. We were looking to book so this came at a good time! I'll take it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
djcass4199 Posted September 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We are booked on our November Triumph cruise under the casino offer that Buckeye posted a screen grab of. My PVP said there is no casino cash on the offer but to still go to the casino cage when the casino opens and talk to someone to see if there are any benefits there. Apparently they may give me something and that it never hurts to ask.
TrinaLC Posted September 17, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Are you guys just happening to go to your carnival account and looking for the offers or do you get contacted? I found it when I priced a cruise - it was one of the options. We literally have never dropped more than $10 for the entire cruise at the Casino... CheckersMidwest Posted September 19, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 19, 2016 My husband plays roulette a lot , but it's a cash game , so the first few cruises, there was no record of him playing. I told him about casino offers, so now he has the dealer swipe his sign & sail to show he's there....continues to use cash and now he gets casino offers in the mail. Some are really good, some not so much.

AmberTeka Posted September 19, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) We sail more on Carnival than any other line. We get casino offers from Carnival sometimes but not that much and not that good. My husband plays roulette and I play slots. We do others things, but we do go to the casino most nights for while. We only visit casinos on cruises. It is a vacation thing. Like eating dessert every night and ice cream all day long. MY issue.........We get better offers from HAL. Princess. We wanted to book Carnival next March when our Daughter and her family are going with us.........God Willing. But we are booked on HAL that week because they gave us an offer that took 30% off of the cheapest priced cabin in each category. ( Don't think Suites). And we wound up getting a large oceanview with a bathtub for Daughter and family at great price. I have one from Princess right now...........35% off inside. 30% off on O.V. and balcony. Carnival...............NOTHING. My husband says we have more sea days on Carnival than most sailors.................they just do not seem to send us offers much. Husband does get his S & S card scanned now. So it is not that. ANY offer is a good offer and to be much appreciated.
