Travel To Be Free Posted September 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2016 How much is a taxi to Secret Harbor per person? It looks like there may be 3 resorts there.... which one will let you in? What if we didn't want to swim but just have lunch at the casual restaurant overlooking the water? If we did decide to rent chairs, which resort may rent? Ms411 Posted September 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2016 The dive shops rent the chairs and snorkel equipment. The restaurant is open to the public. Taxi fare should be $10-12 per person each way depending on where your ship docks.
O2B@Cagain Posted September 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Secret Harbour has one beachside condominium complex and one on the hill. You may be talking about either Sapphire or Cowpet, both of which have multiple condos on them. None of these are resorts in the true sense of that word. Sapphire now has a beachside grill. Cowpet (Elysian) has Sangia's. Both are operated by the same restaurant group, as is the one at Secret Harbour.

O2B@Cagain Posted September 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Has the restaurant re-opened? Or is this somewhere else? The St Thomas Restaurant Group has opened a bar and grill in the area of the old pavilion.
Travel To Be Free Posted September 17, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) So the restaurant is open? Will it be open at the beginning of October as it may be low tourist season? beautifulbill Posted September 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2016 The old restaurant is not open. What is open is an outdoor grill and bar by the dive shop. The old restaurant and pool bar are to be remodeled and opened but it hasn't started yet
Travel To Be Free Posted September 17, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted September 17, 2016 So the restaurant at the left when looking at pictures is closed? Is there another great beach with an outdoor restaurant? We love beautiful views more than actually swimming. We love the ocean and palm trees right on the beach. Any ideas? O2B@Cagain Posted September 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Travel: Bill is talking about Sapphire. Is that what you are talking about? Sangria's at the Elysian is also on the water. Iggie's at Bolongo is on the water.
Travel To Be Free Posted September 18, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Oh..... thanks so much for catching this!!!! I thought he was talking about Secret Harbor. Missed that it was the restaurant on Sapphire. So the restaurant/grill to the left when looking at a picture of Secret Harbor is still open??? I think it may be called Sunset Grill? Travel To Be Free Posted September 18, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Sangria's also looks very nice!!! What beach is this on? Do they rent chairs by any chance??
beautifulbill Posted September 19, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Sangria a is on the beach at the Elysian. I don't believe they rent beach chairs but often there are chairs you can use. The beach usually has a lot of boats anchored there and IMHO is not as nice a beach as Secret Harbor or Sapphire
blue_water Posted September 19, 2016 #16 Share Posted September 19, 2016 For gorgeous water and island views and nice shade Sapphire is hard to beat.
O2B@Cagain Posted September 19, 2016 #17 Share Posted September 19, 2016 The St Thomas Yacht Club is at Cowpet Bay (where the Elysian is) and are the moored boats Bill is talking about. They add to the nautical look there and are not a danger. I agree with Bill and blue. Go to Sapphire.:D

We haven't experienced this but I've read in several threads that day visitors to Secret Harbor are relegated to one non-shaded section of the beach for their lounges, and it isn't uncommon for aa divers to run out of lounges and umbrellas on busier days. Is that accurate for those who are familiar with the operations there?

It was overcast that day so sun wasn't a problem but maybe would be on sunny days.
