Rare Got2Cruise Posted September 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Any idea which is most efficient and best price wise??? One thing I liked about Uber is that the app will immediately tell you a driver picked up your ride, when he will be arriving, and the cost. Another suggestion might be to call the Avis office directly to see if there is a local car service they deal with. Lots of small operators in Brooklyn. Rare mking8288 Posted September 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) OP, you might find some "semi, off-duty NYC yellow taxi on Atlantic Avenue" ... most of them heading into Manhattan, depending on your time/day of the week (weekends are tough) - they are expected to know how to get to BCT, but have the map/address available, just in case. There might be cruising "green" taxi, licensed in the boroughs & they also charged by metered fares, a short trip. Uber is an option. Arecibo is a local car service 718-783-6465 based in south Brooklyn area, you can call them for availability & pickup. Avis's office is located inside an underground commercial garage, where the cars are - look for the large entrance sign for parking. Chances are, they have a friendly local car service's phone # available to call ... otherwise, Dial7 and Carmel are your, citywide car services, as backup. You can download & use their own free smartphone Apps, similar to Uber, displaying availability & ETA for pickup, as well as fare quots - often, less than 10 minutes away. Brighton Line Posted September 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Dial 7 and Carmel also have coupons online if you reserve ahead of time for a few bucks off. In Downtown Brooklyn you will also be able to hail a Yellow or Green metered taxi, not as plentiful as Manhattan but doable. Just have directions/street address on you, not all cabbies know how to go to the Brooklyn port. FWIW
