Jewel or Adventure of the Seas?

Consider taking a Southern Caribbean cruise in March.

Thoughts?

Looking for a good value. Traveling with husband only this time.

Prefer a more adult vs family.

Have already done East/ west Caribbean.

Suggestions/ ideas needed.

Thanks

Can't go wrong either way.

Jewel would probably be the more "adult" ship, with Adventure by that time having the Flowrider. However, Jewel does have a kiddie pool area and slide for the younger kids. Many fewer passengers on Jewel, and also a much smaller pool deck. Solarium can be covered on Jewel, always open on Adventure.

I agree with Bob... Having sailed both ships out of SJ in the last 8 months that both can be an adult ship, it'll be what you make it. I feel however, Jewel will be a more adult ship imho in 2 months. Adventure with upgrades of slides and Florider, the larger sports court, ice rink, way bigger adventure ocean, much larger pool deck I think even without the upgrades is "less adult" oriented than a Radiance Class ship. I think when families with kids and Tweens decide between the two ships as they book for next year it'll be a no brainer for them to choose Adventure over Jewel.

I like both classes for different types of cruises. I prefer Jewel for Alaska sailings and we are booked for a Med/TA on her as well. But for our usual Caribbean sailings we have done mostly Voyager class including Adventure out of SJ, and would lean toward that class unless the deal was much better on the smaller ship. Just my take.

I really like Voyager class, I think the way it's laid out is really easy to get around & I really like the promenade. I didn't care for Jewel even though I liked all the sea views. My least favorite thing about Jewel was that it seemed like smoke from the casino would funnel up through the centrum to other parts of the ship including the stateroom areas & where my room was on the hump so every time I came out of my room I was hit in the face with the smell of cigarette smoke. Yuck!

Thank you all for the feedback. Leaning toward adventure the end of April 2017. Hopefully!

I just now saw this thread. Glad your joining us on Adventure! I've done Jewel twice and I've done sister ships to Adventure twice. I love them both. Looking forward to 3 new islands on this itinerary.

I prefer Adventure. We weren't thrilled with the entertainment on Jewel - it was very lackluster and boring.

DonnaK, what made the entertainment on Jewel lackluster and boring? We picked it because of the itinerary and the dates, but we were a little concerned about the ship being smaller than what we've sailed before and the one thing my husband said was as long as the entertainment was good he would be happy. I'm a little nervous now!

I feel the entertainment on Jewel is on par with Adventure. DW and I both enjoyed the atmosphere of the smaller Radiance class ship. Carly B was CD and Elvis was activities director. It was by far our most memorable cruise. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you cruising_chow! I know this type of thing is all subjective but I appreciate everyone's 2 cents!
