CruzinNoony Posted November 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Is it possible to get on a ship (Grand - SF) sail to Hawaii, go to the islands, then fly home from Maui?
Shmoo here Posted November 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Is it possible to get on a ship (Grand - SF) sail to Hawaii, go to the islands, then fly home from Maui? No. It would be a violation of the PVSA. Although, PHYSICALLY it's possible, legally it's not. Edited November 12, 2016 by Shmoo here
Cruiserkenn Posted November 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2016  No. It would be a violation of the PVSA. Although, PHYSICALLY it's possible, legally it's not. Gosh, I forgot about PVSA. That's right. I was going to say that I have recently experienced Hawaiian Airlines flights, to LA. Very very nice. I'm pretty sure you would have to connect in Honolulu. Still, nice. Thanks for the PVSA reminder.
Cruiser411 Posted November 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2016 And you'd still have to pay for the entire cruise...
Viv0828 Posted November 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2016 There is one cruise on the Noordam in April I think that goes from Honolulu to Vancouver. You could fly to Maui, do a land trip on the islands, fly to Honolulu, take the ship to Vancouver, and then fly home. fishywood Posted November 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Princess has a round trip Hawaii from Vancouver once each spring and fall. So no PVSA violation there, assuming Princess would grant permission and you were willing to pay full price for 2/3 of the cruise.
Cruiserkenn Posted November 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Great ideas, everyone, about the Hawaii cruises to/from Vancouver. Thanks!
CruzinNoony Posted November 12, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Thank you all for your input. I was asking for a friend whose cruise is in 1 1/2 weeks and her daughter wanted to join her, but not for the whole cruise. I think she changed her mind and has decided to go for the full 15 days.:D

RMMariner Posted November 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 13, 2016 Our first cruise was on Grand Princess roundtrip Vancouver to Hawaii. The cruise was very rough for the first three days. I was actually sea sick for the first time in my life. Several couples chose to fly home from Hawaii rather than cruise back. They missed out because it was much calmer on the way back. I am not sure what would have happened if the ship had not been departing from Vancouver, but of course the people who chose to fly home lost 5 days of their cruise.
