Carnival Elation- My Observations

We boarded Thursday, Nov. 10th- we did have FTTF- Jacksonville is quick and efficient with their process there! ( Note : If you pay for parking online you get front row reserved spots! Wish I'd known this!)

Our luggage actually arrived to our cabin BEFORE we did and we had FTTF and were in the first 3 rows of folks allowed on! :D

We were thrilled with our cabin steward Manohar or MANO as he told us to call him. Great , personable guy! We were also thrilled to see Ian our waiter in the casino ( we'd previously seen him on the Paradise our last 3 cruises on her!) This guy has a memory like no one else- he remembered us, our names and our drinks from the Paradise!! And our favorite Casino Host Nenad or Ned as he's called. Ned had seen us many times aboard the Paradise! So great to see old and new faces. :D

The ship herself had a great vibe but she's seen some hard times. Many rusting and I do mean RUSTING places! We had paint peeling from the deck above serenity and floating down like snowflakes. They hadn't bothered to scrap it before painting- it was a hot mess. But overall despite her cosmetic issues in some areas her vibe makes me want to sail her again. On a side note in our cabin the old life vest box had been removed.

My birthday Mano had left the 50 dollar spa card and free pic card which is nice. Some serious restrictions on what you can use them for and on what days, etc.

This cruise I stuck mainly to my fresh omelets in the morning and the mongolian wok ( you never go wrong with fresh!) But I did branch out on the French buffet day when I saw the Braised Grouper. I had it and fell in love. That and the banana pie. OMG banana pudding in pie form!

We visited Freeport...just quick shopping..not really as torn up as I thought it would be. They did a great job cleaning it up!

Nassau is well..Nassau..:D We just walked around and shopped and really didn't do much!

The casino is small but well lit and fun...

Overall I'd cruise Elation again!:D

I did four cruises back to back (or B2B2B2B) on the Elation last month. Love the ship and the staff. the food is wonderful. Guest services are outstanding and the omelet guys are the best ! Georgia and Christian of the Fun Squad are really great. :):):)

Wow! Not sure I could take a whole month on a ship... but I would sure like to try!

First time on Elation on 11/27, looking forward to it. I see the comment about a small casino, how is it in comparison to fascination or fantasy? As long as there's a nice selection of slot machines, I'll be happy and if they're the older ones, I'll be even happier. I like the small ships, nice and cozy.

Very cool! Will he still be on the Elation for the January sailings? We'll be sure to look him up, if so!

Hi,

Yes he will. :). The Contract is for 6 months. We're going at the end of March. Maybe we'll see him here on CC in somebody's vacation photo. He loves cruising and now to work on one. :)
