Freedom of the Seas - Live Review 11/26/2016-12/4/2016

Recommended Posts

I am looking forward to your review. I have an odd question if you could be so bold to ask for me. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary on Freedom in February. Would they have any wine or spirits from 1997?

I think you would be better off trying to find your 1997 bottle of wine before you get on the ship, and just bring it with you.

We decided to skip the MDR tonight for the first time in ages because the menu is was not calling our name. We are skipping tomorrow too because of football - go Pats!!!!! I stopped by a kiosk to get the menu for this evening :)

I am LOVING James Brown in the Bull and Bear. I am pretty sure he was on one of our sailings last spring. He knows great big seas and the wreck of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. That is a win for me!!

We decided to eat at the MDR for lunch. They had the Tutti frutti salad bar, a pasta station, and a chicken wrap station along with the menu which I failed to get a picture of. I opted for a salad and the wrap. The wrap was okay but a bit spicy.cdefbf0912b18df1237559f5dffc3713.jpgd48d2945c3169733f9bb47590f1329e5.jpga3245a0b190072a73358d4f298428b65.jpgb327e74428740fd799cc5d29d18dd36d.jpg472c6c71a73084699761a7ea96786e49.jpg

Have you tried Sorrento's? If so is it more New York style or Chicago style? My DH can't wait to try it!

Yes we have had Sorrentos multiple times on previous sailings and had a few slices last night. I think it would be considered NY style. The pizzas on the Freedom are all premade - you can not do made to order like you can on the oasis. The pizzas as okay for a late night snack or a quick filler, but they are not anything special. Paul calls the sauce glorified ketchup :)

I agree with this. You can ask for gluten free or specify an alergy and they will make a fresh one for you but its not real pizza. Its good filler if you are hungry or been drinking or the kids want pizza but nothing you'd eat too much of or go back for seconds for.

If you have time would you mind posting a white wine list from one or two of the venues? We are sailing next March for Spring Break!!!! Have a great cruise and thank you in advance if you have time.

Here are the lists from Vintages and R Bar. I will try to get some others

I am also on this sailing. I am in Tamarac now, about 5 mins. from you. There is an Old Navy at the Coral Square Mall in Coral Springs. It is on the corner of University and Atlantic. Go down Commercial to University. Take a left on University and head north until you reach Atlantic. Take a right on Atlantic and the mall will be on your left. I recommend this instead of going back to Sawgrass which will be extremely crowded Friday.

Ugh. There was a murder/suicide at that mall Friday or Saturday morning. I hope you didn't go there. Shop owner shot an employee then killed himself.

Watching the Pats vs Jets game in On Air. Great little venue to watch games. Also, one of the Karaoke booths is still working. It was not working yesterday though. I love to sing but usually too shy to sing karaoke in front of others :)

Another child of a NBer, but born in TO. I'm really enjoying your review. I was on the 12th sailing, part of the girls cruise with Robyn.

I really love your idea to book low cabins and watch prices. I can't believe how low the balcony prices went as we got closer to sailing.

That's good news, I will do Freedom again someday, but have only used Terminal 18 at Fort Lauderdale, glad to hear they are doing good on embarkation, I won't rush to see how easy it is getting off the ship, but I'll be watching. Enjoy my favorite ship.

Beautiful day today in Labadee. We got off for a few hours and relaxed on the beach, enjoying a few Labadoozies. We grabbed some lunch from the buffet and then returned to the ship and are currently laying out in the Solaruum. 54cb9ee1e83d68a0a729a577beb2c07d.jpg

Last night after the football game we changed and headed to Windjammer for dinner. It was not good. Very little selection and very salty. I was not feeling the best after a little too much fun the first night and a not so great meal, but I got a second wind and started feeling good after I turned $16 into $400 playing blackjack and then Ultimate Texas Hold Em in the casino. Fingers crossed that I have the same success tonight.

Sorry but I forgot to take pics of the MDR menu last night. I think we might finally go tonight so I will make sure to grab them this time!

I would call it more Arizona style - as in Tombstone, AZ... :D

It's not great by any means, but we end up stopping there at least once a day for a mid-day slice or one of the dessert cups that they also have...
