One other thing, when your done with this review you may want to do a separate review just for Silvermoon on the Barbados port boards, it would have made my decision a lot easier to make on which company to choose!!:D

Thanks Again!

aye :) thats already in the works, along with one for trip advisor.. not that they need more 5 star reviews or anything lol

A question for the OP. I'm doing the Jewel for a Transatlantic in the Fall.

I've only done Royal Caribbean ships Voyager class and larger. Does

The Jewel have a 24 hour place to get something to eat like the Cafe

Promenade? And also, does the Jewel serve those delicious Roast Beef

Sandwiches like the Anthem and the Allure have?

On our September Jewel Mediterranean cruise Kummelweck (roast beef) sandwiches were available daily in the Solarium snack area. Check the cruise compass for hours.

Thanks. That's good to know. I've gotten hooked on them when I sailed

The Anthem last month.

after his little dive, he showed and let us handle what he found before returning it to the water.

The day before, there was a huge rainstorm and our driver mentioned that normally iguanas were all over the place but to that point, we saw none. Then over a rise, we spotted a little pulloff where a local was feeding some greens to a bunch that decided to come and show off.

no one from our bus wanted to get out lol except me

We then toured around the island some more taking in the sights and enjoying the very informative commentary from our guide. Our next stop was a little shop area on a hill with a nice overlook to the nude beaches. I only had a 300mm lens with me so not much to see from this distance anyway. It was a nice view regardless

At the little shop are there was a small place that took care of abandoned pets. There was this cat there that just seemed too cool for pictures...note the crossed paws...such a princess

alas, she was not a fan of paparazzi

Hello All !

Since I have not seen any in depth reviews of Jewel since the drydock, I thought I would throw one in.

First, some disclaimers: Spelling and grammer errors...expect them...just sayin. I am doing this after long days of class and work so if you can get the gist of what I am typing, I consider it a win.

so a couple preview pics while I get the rest of the shoveling done

Second, there is no food porn ( very sorry ) but as I have stated in a prior review, I have a palete so boring it would make Gordon Ramsey cry and Wolfgang Puck quit and try to endorse Amish Rake Fighting in the next olympics..... yes my menu is THAT limited. For those that will pick up on the reference, take Leonard Hofstadters food issues and multiply by about 6..so yea...fun. That said, I will still attempt to go over what I did experience food-wise in addition to commentary by my far better half on what is available and the quality.

Contrary to my screen name here, I don't drink... never have, never will. I UNDERSTAND it for sure, just can't miss what you never had so I can't really comment on the alcohol side.

With that out of the way, I will be happy to field questions and answer as best as I am able from what I and my wife have experienced.

We are in our low 40's and do not have kids. This is my eighth cruise and her forth. I like it more then she does mostly because she has some motion sickness issues.

Lastly as far as gear for pictures, I used a Canon T3i and a gopro 3+. I did use the wide format for taking some stills with the gopro and due to that, some pics may be a bit fuzzy. This was due to not being able to view the shots once they were taken. It was literaly click and pray.. And I do like to have a little fun with the tilt-shift or (miniature) function on the Canon. It is challenging to frame the picture in a way the filter will work well and to me it makes some pictures more interesting.

Sorry for all the words, I will get working on pre-board day tomorrow. Until then, ask questions if you have them and enjoy the ride

Izumi: deck 11 aft...

We last sailed the Jewel 2015. At that time is was pre refurbishment and still had the Sea View Cafe instead of Izumi. Bummer! It was a great place to enjoy a hamburger and watch the your last port disappear.

I remember a wonderful Cuban sandwich at the Seaview.

Thanks so much for the awesome review and gorgeous photos!! We are RCI newbies and excited for our Jewel cruise. She looks like a beautiful ship. Up until now, I thought the Celebrity Reflection, our last cruise, was the most beautiful ship we had seen. However, Jewel may soon replace the Reflection based on your photos. Although, to be on a cruise no matter which ship is the best in the moment. :):)

For those that have recently sailed on Jewel:

In the solarium, I see per the deck plans there is a bathroom. Are there showers in there as well?

And I know the solarium pool is for those passengers 16 years and older. What about the solarium cafe?

Thank you
