My daughter will be 18 on our next cruise. She has been to Camp Carnival at least 10 times and is worried that she won't meet anyone on this next cruise because she will be too old for CC. Will there be any "meet and greets" for teens her age? If so, what will the age of the group be? Thanks for your input.

Yes, she can meet and greet other adults in the evening at the clubs. Very similar to the kids club, but for adults. There are many younger adults there in the 18-25 range.

My daughter had just turned 18 on our last cruise and she was so worried about not meeting anyone since she was too old for CC, but she did end up meeting other teens in the game room one afternoon and from there they would plan for places to meet up and hang out. As far as the night club, she went almost every night with me and my sister (who was 19) and they'd see the new friends they met there and then hang out on deck eating pizza. So, I think she'll be fine. I think they should have meet and greets for 18-20 year olds at least to help break the ice ;)

My next cruise is also 2 month before my son's 18th birthday. He really enjoys CC and hanging out in there, playing the video games, etc. He's Aspergers and he usually finds 1 or 2 kids he can connect with and sticks with them the entire cruise. After he turns 18 I don't know if I will pick a cruise for a vacation for a while.

We took our son on a cruise for his 18th birthday last year. He went to the club, drank Red Bull and checked out the scene. He gambled a little at the slots, he played mini golf, he LOVED the 18+ comedy shows, etc. He mostly spent his time with us and his uncle and really had a good time.

One night he and his single uncle, late 30s, decided to go check out the singles meet and mingle. As more and more people arrived, they slowly realized that they were at an LGBT meet and mingle. Oops. ;)

I went through this age period with my son and now that my dd is just about 18 I made sure that we take one of her friends with us on this cruise we are about to book for June. Having a friend with her should help.

I went on some cruises between 18-21 with my parents and I was miserable. I mean it was fun because it was a cruise, but at night it just sucked. I was too old for what I knew and too young for the partying. The clubs didn't interest me because I didn't have any liquid courage, the theatre shows make me contemplate jumping off my balcony and I didn't want to just hang out with family all night just tagging along.

All I had was the hour and a half of comedy some nights and trivia during the day.

It became much better when I turned 21 and I could start indulging.

Thanks for all of your posts.....maybe if she hangs out around the Camp room for the 17 year olds she will meet someone. Or she can follow me around the casino. Or just try to look cute in those seats on the Promenade deck....lol

Tough age that. Not a kid anymore, but not quite an adult either. Yet some 18yo's are way more grown up in all regards than some 30yo's I've known.

When my son is 18 in a couple of years he'll still be a bit socially awkward. My 12yo daughter is already more socially able than me!

I hear ya. I was 17, a week away from turning 18, on my first cruise. "Club O2" on that sailing was basically just a nightclub for teens (which didn't really interest me), and despite being so close to 18 I couldn't even go to the comedy shows.

Who would question you? Our kids went to the comedy shows while on the boat, including the 9:00 "adult" ones. They didn't sit w/ us when they went. They were all 16/19 and no one asked.

DD turned 18 in January, and we are cruising in June on the Magic, for her HS graduation gift.

In the past, we've always cruised with family friends and their daughter was the same age, so they would wander off and do their own thing, but she also wanted to spend time with us.

Last year, we cruised on RCCL Oasis, just the 3 of us, and she hung with us most of the time, we all got off the ship together, and if she wanted time to herself, she would just go back to the cabin and chill. She still had a great cruise.:D

She is somewhat of an introvert, and when she started cruising, she was 12, but never attended Camp Carnival.

We did offer to let her bring her boyfriend this time:rolleyes:, but she doesn't think he can make it due to work commitments. Phewwwwww!:')

Again, she is fine with just us. We always have a great time. She's an only child, and very mature for her age.

My son turned 18 in January of his senior year in high school. That June they had no problem him going to the first night Club O2 meet and greet where he hooked up with a group of older teens.

Have only seen obnoxious teens and little kids kicked out of the Adult comedy. Never seen behaved teens kicked out. Even brought our HS kids with us. They've heard worse at school.
