The Badger Posted February 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Hi We are sailing out of Miami on the Splendor in April, Flying in from the UK and arrive the day before, so obviously we need a room for the night. We don't need anything too luxurious for one night, but at the same time want something clean, safe, maybe with a pool and close to a nice restaurant and bars. And kind of on the beach. If we're flying in from London it would be a shame not to at least walk on Miami beach :) Ideally looking at around the $170.00 a night area, and not too far from the port for the cab ride in. Many Thanks

ksmcdonald Posted February 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2017 We are staying at the Hyatt Regency - 400 South East Second Avenue, Miami. Looks like taxi service to the Port of Miami is about $15 one way. Mary Brickell Village - Located within walking distance of the Hyatt in the heart of Miami’s financial district, Mary Brickell Village offers an eclectic mix of upscale dining, shopping and entertainment options for the sophisticated shopper. Bayside Marketplace - Located on Biscayne Bay, Bayside Marketplace offers some of the best food, fun, and shopping Miami has to offer. From a vibrant marketplace to exotic restaurants, daily live entertainment and national brand name stores, Bayside's wealth of activity offers something for everyone. Flymia Posted February 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Look in the downtown Miami area. The Hyatt Regency is a good choice, so is the Hampton Inn Mary Brickell, Yve Hotel, Doubletree Biscayne Bay. Downtown Miami is right next the port, the cab or uber ride will be very short. An Uber from most places in Downtown will cost no more than $5-$7 to the port. Downtown Miami has tons of options for eating and getting a drink. You could also look in the Miami Beach area as recommended above. Prices are typically a little bit higher there, and the taxi/uber to the port is a slightly longer, but its not a long ride at all. JohninDC Posted February 7, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2017 September prices should be reasonable - hopefully your budget is enough. In downtown Miami the popular cruise hotels include Hyatt, Intercontinental, Doubletree, Holiday Inn, a couple of Marriott options and a couple of hotels (Hampton Inn, etc.) in the Mary Brickell area. All will be about a $25+ taxi ride from the MIA airport and offer nearby dining and shopping options. Another $12+ taxi will get you to your ship the next morning. If any of this helps you owe me a pint - bitter please! :D
Langoustine Posted February 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Just remember: there are no beaches in downtown Miami.

Many Thanks No beach in downtown area, which is closest to the port. If you want a beach, you will need to look in the South Beach area, or other areas farther away from the pier. Wow whoever wrote that has a rather glowing description of that place! I guess cheap souvenir shops and mediocre chain restaurants doesn't have quite the same ring to it  I would recommend not putting this place on your list. Just IMO! Flymia Posted February 8, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2017 Missed the beach part. Your best option is something in Miami Beach. Typically I recommend something east of Washington Ave and south of 25th street. Given your budget you can't be too picky. Also, Miami Beach is a pretty short taxi/uber or even bus ride away from Downtown Miami, you could easily check-in to a Downtown Miami hotel and then take a ride over to Miami Beach. MEUB1112 Posted February 8, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 8, 2017 We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn-Port of Miami. We had absolutely no complaints, and Bayside is across the street and we enjoyed a full day there. Our room was on the ninth floor and could see the ships docked at their berths.
