Prepaid Excursions Back (No Reserve Now, Pay Onboard)

As stated earlier, you can use OBC to pay for shore excursions reserved in advance. When you go to pay, it lets you apply OBC and then you only have to charge the excess to a credit card.

The only problem is that they only let you use OBC that is already posted to your account and listed on your Cruise Personalizer. This includes veterans OBC, FCD OBC, and OBC from a Princess sale promotion. It does not include shareholder OBC until you send in your proof of ownership less than 90 days before sailing. It does not include loyalty OBC. It does not include purchased OBC or OBC provided by a travel agent.

If you have some OBC available on advance, then you can use it to reserve some of your excursions. I would recommend reserving the ones you really want and/or the ones that look like they may have limited capability.

Sorry, but we are referring to those excursions which are only reserved by paying in advance. When you pick an excursion, the choices are to put into the "cart" or on your wish list. The next step is paying for it with a credit card within 24 hours after making the selection. There is no way to apply OBCs for this expense.

The curious thing is that we are on a BTB with the first voyage being a TA from London doing Denmark, France, Spain and Portugal then on to Fort Lauderdale and the excursion policy is you can reserve and pay once on the ship. The second voyage is a Caribbean Circle voyage and all the excursions are pay in advance only. Go figure. Probably has something to do with what I mentioned in the other post that there are too many pxs. that book then cancel close to the cut off date and the ship can't fill the void in time losing revenue.

The TA is considered the last voyage of the previous cruise "season", and the voyage after is the first one of the next. Prepayment required for shore excursions begins with fall 2017, your transatlantic is considered to still be in the summer season.

Any cruise for which prepayment is requires should be able to be paid with OBC, but as noted, only certain kinds of OBC seem to be showing up to be used.

We're doing an Alaska Cruisetour in less than 2 weeks. We have reserved excursions at two of the ship ports which have not required prepayment to confirm reservation. However, the land excursions (e.g. Denali and Kenai) DO require a credit card and immediate payment to reserve. Just no way around it.
