bmetz34 Posted April 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2017 We are looking for a beach day in Nassau. Right now I currently have these both booked. Balmoral island through carnival excursions and the British Hilton through bahamascruiseecursion.com (deposit only). Anyone know when I'd have to cancel the carnival excursion to get a full refund? Any opinions from ppl that have been to both? It will be me, dh and our 3yr old who loves the beach. Balmoral, we lose some time taking the boat there, but I'm thinking it might be a nicer beach than being right in the cruise port at BHC. MNelson486 Posted April 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2017 I have not been to Balmoral -- but I have done the Colonial Hilton. We enjoyed the Hilton, but not for the beach -- it is not great. Basically we spent the day at the pool.
txskier Posted April 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Nice facilities at the Hilton, good service and food. Beach is small but still nice to get in the water. Pool has nice furniture to lounge in. We liked it and would do it again.
Je Souhaite Posted April 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2017 We hired the banana boat guy to take us over to Balmoral when it was Blackbeard Cay. For 5 bucks a person, we loved it. Not sure what it has been transformed into, but it was a very nice beach. We walked around the island, and found half of it was a beach Sandals used, with this pool in the middle of the oasis. There was also a shack that grilled pretty decent burgers. Off in the distance, we could see the ships in port in Nassau, and Cable Beach directly across the "bay". Krissfon Posted April 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2017 You should check out the Melia day pass. It's right across from Balmoral island and has a really nice beach with amazing pools. What I like about the day pass is you can come and go as you please vs being on the excursion timing. If I get back to Nassau I'd either go back to Melia or try the Hilton colonial (since HC is walking distance vs cab to Melia)

So I figured we would stay walking or boating distance Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

hannibal54 Posted April 22, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2017 I have been to both, I would prefer the BCH where you can walk to. Here is a link to a port web cam that shows the Hilton. The beach is small but clean with white sand & aqua waters. We hung out at the pool while there. http://www.portnassauwebcam.com/
pcvtmom Posted April 22, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2017 Can't speak for Balmoral, but I love the Hilton! It's just such an easy, relaxing day.
evandbob Posted April 22, 2017 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2017 How about a 3rd possibility? The best beach in Nassau is Cable Beach, a short bus or cab ride from the port. Fronting 3 hotels, there's a nice long stretch of sand, with great aqua blue water. There's a casino and restaurants as well.

bubba74 Posted April 23, 2017 #15 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Doesn't breezes share Balmoral island? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk No, Balmoral is shared by Sandals. The government is trying to shut down the Dolphin encounter / animal programs at Balmoral as they are operated illegally. Beach is sectioned off, so you do not have access to the Sandals portion.
