bitob Posted April 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2017 We are taking out first river cruise with tauck in June. We will get to the boat ourselves so we will have our luggage The luggage tags they sent have no cabin numbers. They seem to be designed for passengers at their pre cruise hotel What happens when we arrive at the boat? Are there handlers who take the luggage and deliver to the cabin? Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted April 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2017 The ship is very small. They know where your cabin is. No problems.
TravelerThom Posted April 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2017 Tauck boats have less than 70 cabins. Unless there are 2 John Smith they will figure out where you are. If there are 2 John Smiths they will look if there is a hometown. Worst case check with the front desk. Not to worry.
DaKa2002 Posted April 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2017 They met us as we stepped out of the taxi, grabbed our luggage, and immediately took it to our room. The captain and cruise director greeted us at the gangplank, led us aboard and we were handed our choice of several drinks - only then the check-in process began! No worries - enjoy! SuiteTraveler Posted April 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2017 The whole luggage thing is so much easier on a river cruise. You are not going to believe how well they take care of you. Have an absolutely wonderful time on your cruise!

Rare terry&mike Posted April 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2017 Most of our river cruise boardings look like this: as we are pulling up in a taxi, someone is heading our way with a clip board and asks our names, which we tell them, and are then given a warm welcome. At the same time a guy is helping the taxi driver take our luggage out of the trunk. Person with the clipboard tells the luggage guy we are staying in room 210 (or whatever). Off our luggage goes and we walk on board, are given a brief overview and shown to our cabin. There sits our luggage. River cruise boarding is amazingly brief and efficient. I_r_a Posted April 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Hey Bit, You may write your cabin number on your luggage tags if you wish. Enjoy your journey. Ira
