Just saw on the site we can't mention that Anthem is doing a surprise stop in Bermuda. Don't know how she could be back in time for next cruise on Saturday.

What kind of emergency requires them to send a whole cruise ship?

 

Maybe another RCCL ship is stuck and they have to transfer passengers? I've seen that done for busses and trains, but not something as big as a cruise ship.

Looks like they would have to tender - the Breakaway & Summit are already docked at the Dockyard.

She is sailing from Eastern Caribbean to Bayonne, Bermuda may not be that far off course for a medical emergency.

 

I would guess she would pause off St George and a tug or ferry would come out to get the patient.

 

Marine traffic does show a passenger ship due south of Bermuda heading north

If they leave today, they can make it back to Bayonne by Saturday. They MIGHT be late depending on when they leave Bermuda, but they'll make it. There's usually a day at sea when they leave Bayonne to go to Bermuda.

If that's the case they will probably just get close enough for someone to come out and pickup the person(s) and won't even enter the channel.

Anthem should be back to Bayonne on time. She currently is 341 nm from port. Can't wait to sail tomorrow.

We were on that cruise heading back to Bayonne. It was a medical emergency. They stabilized the patient, cruised to Bermuda, emergency pilot boat picked up the patient with the nurse. Waited for nurse to come back, on our way, arrived to Bayonne this morning as scheduled.
