Star Class

Recommended Posts

We are starting to plan for 2019 and we are thinking about Harmony of the Seas in a 2 bedroom Aqua Theatre. I am looking for some review on the Royal Genie. Also looking for people who have stayed in this room. Any pros or cons? Was it worth the price? There would be 6 adults and two children. Is the second bedroom fit 4 people comfortably? This year we did two rooms, a balcony and a royal family suite, but we are trying to upgrade for our next year. Thanks for your help!

We had the 2 bedroom aqua theater in March on the Oasis. We had six adults. My husband and I had the master, four twenty-somethings shared the other bedroom. The second bedroom is tight but fine. The Genie was awesome, we don't think we want to cruise without her again!! The living area is huge, and the balcony is amazing. Great to be able to watch the shows from the balcony.

We also have done two rooms in the past. All of us agreed this was much better. One benefit was that we saw each other more since we had shared living area and balcony. Even the young adults said they thought that was really nice!

We were in 8330 in Feb 2017 and Reyno was our Genie. Had a wonderful cruise. As others have said, the living space and balcony are simply incredible.

IMO the second BR will be cramped with 4 people. 2 of the beds are Pullman beds that drop down from the wall. If there are 2 small children then it would be doable but still logistically difficult, I think. Keep in mind that the couch in the living room also makes into a bed so if the 2nd BR proves to be unworkable for 4, then someone can always sleep out there but there are challenges with someone sleeping in the living room, too.

Regarding the Genie, all I can say is, like hoosiercruising, I don't really want to take a cruise without a Genie again ! Especially if you will be doing any entertaining in your suite, the Genie is wonderful. There are so many wonderful aspects of cruising in Star Class. One of the ones we most enjoyed was being able to order food from any specialty restaurant to be delivered to your suite. They used to permit you to order from more than 1 specialty restaurant for the same delivery but the logistics of that apparently proved to be a challenge so you can now only order from 1 specialty restaurant per delivery but that was good enough for me. One evening my husband was not feeling well (his mother had just passed away) and all we wanted was 2 bowls of my favorite cream of mushroom soup from Chops. Not more than 10 minutes later that wonderful elixir was delivered to our suite and the best comfort food on the planet was there.

Don't miss the opportunity of having a full meal delivered to you on your balcony at LEAST once. The dining table seats 6 comfortably. It is a wonderful experience. If you choose to have breakfast delivered and you want any scrambled eggs, be sure that you order from the Coastal Kitchen so that you do not get powdered eggs. Verify that you will be getting real eggs. Nothing more disappointing than a beautiful breakfast on your balcony and then unveiling the good ol' powdered eggs from the MDR. Talk about a buzz kill !

I don't know which Genie you are likely to get. I think Reyno is on vacation at the moment. We will be back on Harmony in another 2 BR ATS in Sept and he said that he would most likely be back by then but still would have no way of knowing which suites he would be serving. We had friends who cruised with us in Feb. in one of the Sky Loft Suites and their Genie was Alexandra. She was terrific as well. Sebastian was the other Genie but I only met him briefly and had no feedback regarding his service. I'm sure he is wonderful.

Reyno had taken the liberty of pre-reserving specialty restaurants for us for each of the nights before we got onboard. That was fine with us. We had no other special plans so we just stuck with his schedule. The only change we made was for delivery of my husband's favorite MDR meal, lamb shank, to our suite on the night that it was served in the MDR. I think that night was to be our second visit to Chops so we really didn't miss any restaurant by doing that. I will just offer my opinion (you know what opinions are like....everybody has one). We hated Wonderland. The service was excellent. The food, not so much. Some people rave about it but we will not make that mistake again.... I'd rather eat in the Windjammer...and I am no fan of the Windjammer...

All-in-all, our Star class suite has been the highlight of our cruising life. It was over-the-top wonderful and I cannot wait for our next one. The only possible improvement that Royal could make to their Star Class program would be to have a private pool but that is truly a minor thing. The Suites Sundeck is really nice and there is a hot tub up there and a shower so they're getting closer...

Enjoy your Star Class cruise on Harmony. You will never want to go back !

Widely subjective. We tipped $200 PP for the week (since there were only 2 of us in the suite, that made $400). Our friends, who were up in the Sky Loft, tipped Alexandra $1000 each ($2000 total) and tipped their room attendant $500 each ($1000 total). Now granted, those wild men ran poor Alexandra ragged the entire week but I'm sure that tip at the end eased some of her pain...

Sounds like the Genie is a real asset. What types of things can you ask the Genie to help with? Besides arranging reservations, what can they do? Do they bring you drinks?

Setup cocktail parties, arrange excursions, spa treatments, etc.

Is there a way to put the genie's tip on your sea pass account or do you use cash? I don't like traveling with large amounts of cash.

You can go to Guest Services and fill out a general form that allows you to add gratuity for any crewmember.

If your friends did a live review, by your description, that's one I think I'd like to read. :D

Any review by those 2 wouldn't be appropriate for public consumption ! They were completely out of control the entire week.

While it says very clearly in the Genie instructions that the Genie's go back into their bottles to regenerate at 9:00 PM (in other words, they are OFF at 9 PM) , those 2 maniacs did not read that part, I guess. They were calling Alex at all hours of the night to get them drinks and even had her order 4 pizzas to be delivered to the casino one night - or should I say, morning. It was probably around 2:00 AM. They probably had parties in their suite 4 out of 7 nights. I am glad we were down in the ATS and not one of their neighbors.

So no....there was no live review from them. They don't know what a Cruise site blog is and wouldn't have time for such things...

LOL! I'm glad they weren't my neighbors either.:)

Edit: I bet they had fun though.

Quick question...I have a "Spacious Aqua Theatre Suite" and when I printed my Set Sail Pass it says "Star Class". I thought I was in a "Sky Class" suite...mix up, possibly?

Most likely, that same mistake has been reported by at least two other posters.

ATS 2 bedroom shows for up to 8 people. Where do they all sleep?

Loyal2Royal

MOTS 11/04, NOTS 4/18,

Allure 9/17, Anthem 4/18

Two lucky people get the "master" bedroom, four get the second small room with bunks and two get the sofa bed in the living room (awkward I would guess if the others want to stay up late).

Thank you! I was originally shocked at the prices for it but I keep coming back to it for the all inclusive price and seeing as the "extra" people are lower per person makes it more reasonable price point to me. That and booking 2 years out.

We were just one family with three kids so our requests may be different. We asked that the mini bar be stocked with beer and lots of still & sparkling water with snacks for the kids. We had more snacks then we knew what to do with!! We asked for a galley tour and a bridge tour. It was arranged without issue.

We adjusted our dining plans during the cruise (we loved the chef's table). He was able to get us in with our girls later in the week. They accommodated the kids with non alcoholic drinks, different dishes, etc. We wanted dinner in our room one evening. He sent us some menus, we ordered through him and took care of everything.

We did all private excursions, but sent him the info. He was able to get us off the ship and going in the right direction each morning based on our time commitments. He was also magically there when we returned and whisked us back on board.

Completely worth it!

We've had the deck 8 ATS on the Oasis and have the same suite booked on the Allure in a couple of weeks. One note about deck 8, the room is about 100 sqft larger than the ones on deck 9 (deck is larger too).

We had 8 adults last time and the same this time. The master is, of course [emoji12], for my wife and I. The 2nd BR had/has 4-twenty-somethings and DD/SIL had/have the hide-a-bed. We have been more than comfortable. The deck is so large we spend most of our time out there-especially watching the shows.

For us it's better than multiple staterooms. We've done that before and it's ok, but actually cost more in the long run, considering the included drink packages, tips, and wifi.

So we have Susan Flannery as our Genie on the Allure for Jun 11-18. She's already been great with the communication. Has anyone had Susan as their Genie? Any words of wisdom, or want me to say hi to her from you?

We had Susan as our Genie last week. She was outstanding. Very accommodating. On embarkation day she will present you with a proposed show and meal itinerary. You can change that up as you wish. We requested Starbucks and fresh squeezed orange juice which she arranged. We hosted a cabin crawl and Susan arranged for a nice food spread in the room. We were celebrating a birthday and Susan asked when and where we'd like to celebrate. You will enjoy her.

Please tell her Martha, Bob and Bob Sr. say hello. Ask her if she's driven any mobility scooters lately? (She had quite the time with my dad's scooter on disembarkation day)

We had Susan in December and she was great. Very sweet with us and our two kids. We were also in a 2 bdrm ATS room and loved it. Take a look at my review. We will be back in the same room on Allure this December and will likely get Susan again.

Please tell her the Knox family says hi.
