Sanbel Posted May 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2017 Hi, I have booked a cruise to New Zealand in November. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the weather is usually like that time of year. Our cruise is predominately the South Island.
Aus Traveller Posted May 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2017 Definitely cool. Dress in layers.:) On one cruise several years ago at the end of November it actually snowed on the deck of the ship when they went into Milford Sound, although I believe this would be the exception rather than the norm. :)
GUT2407 Posted May 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2017 We were there nov 2015, Dunedin was 5c. So yep layers.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted May 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2017 Variable but probably cool. Pack layers, a waterproof jacket, warm hat, gloves, scarf, sunglasses and sunscreen (even when it's cold the sun in NZ can be quite vicious).
vrogers Posted May 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2017 I sailed mid November a few years ago and had the most amazing sunny days for the majority of the cruise. My girlfriend cruised in January and had gale force conditions, so you never can tell, you are just in the hands of the weather gods, whenever you cruise... Swissmiss6253 Posted May 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2017 I have a picture of me in Milford sound last January wearing a woollen coat over a jumper, plus a scarf and a woollen hat!
Vader1111 Posted May 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2017 Remember that you're going a long way south. Almost all of the South Island is at latitudes south of Hobart. Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk
SinbadThePorter Posted May 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2017 Hi, I have booked a cruise to New Zealand in November. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the weather is usually like that time of year. Our cruise is predominately the South Island. The weather in NZ is always the same, completely unpredictable. It will either be perfect or miserable, or something in between.
Sanbel Posted May 26, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess I had better tell the kids that the flow rider might be off the cards.
