Tampa Debarkation Question

We are cruising the Dawn in January on a repo cruise from San Juan to Tampa. We are staying in an Aft Suite. I know we get priority debarkation if we choose to utilize the service. My question is: Will we have enough time to catch a 10:15am flight out of Tampa airport if we are first off the ship? The next non-stop flight home isn't until 7pm that evening. We would rather not spend the day in Tampa and we are looking to get home as early as possible. Any thoughts from those of you who have experienced this. Thank you all in advance.

BEWARE = Tampa does Fog over @ times.

This is so true. In Feb 2013 we were supposed to leave at 4 to head to the Western Caribbean. We didn't even board till after 8 PM. Lots of people missed their flights that day.

I guess that we are screwed. We are on the same cruise, also in a suite and we have a 10:45 flight booked.

Things can go the other way, too. If they are expecting fog they may hurry up and get to Tampa sooner. Last year we looked out the window the night before and we were already docked! They don't like doing this because they have to close down the casino etc. but it's better than having a delayed turnaround the next day.

So you might get lucky. And 10:45 is a bit better than 10:15, because when things are that tight, every minute counts… But if you can get your flight changed that would probably be a good idea.

Thank you for the information. That makes me feel better. I only plan on having a carry on bag so that should help. And I am Diamond with Delta, so if we miss the flight, they will get us on the next one. I'm not too worried now. Thank you!

I would not risk it, even with priority disembarkation. That time of year it is not at all unusual for fog to develop and ships are notoriously late arriving. If you dock on time than 10:15 at TPA is doable, but the weather in January is too iffy to try it.

Even being diamond you won't get on the next flight if it is totally booked. They will not bump someone to accommodate you. You should change your flight now instead of waiting because you are not likely to make it even with just a carry on. Also keep in mind because it is a one way trip security screenings take much longer than on a closed loop trip.
