Sanctuary in Glacier Bay

Wanted to get some advice on choosing a chair in the Sanctuary for Glacier bay. Do you go under the cover and look through the glass or go in the open air area ?

Yes, it was a total waste of money because it was raining and we couldn't use the chairs, the blankets were soaked and it was hard to see through the glass. We ended up going to a covered deck. Maybe on a clear day it would be ok, but I'll never book it again for the one day.

I prefer the Promenade deck for Glacier Bay. You can easily move around and you have some protection from weather.

Me too! Covered deck, can move around and not crowded.

 

Best pictures are done at a lower level.

 

I would definitely not pay for sanctuary.

We had the best experience that day. I highly recommend it. They catered to us we had our own cabanaarea. It was awesome!

Move around the ship- it is COLD! We spent much time in Skywalker's and outside of it on the Crown. I would not bother with Sanctuary. The front of the ship is great too!

We'll be boarding the Ruby in 4 weeks for our first ever Alaska trip, and this is comforting news. For some reason, I was under the mistaken impression that the Promenade Deck was a zoo on Glacier Bay day, is it really that accessible and usable? What are the crowds like?

 

On a related note, on Glacier Bay day, is the platform at the forward end of the Lido deck, IOW the roof over the bridge, open and available at all during the day or do they close it off? That would seem to be a very good location on a good weather day if it doesn't get too crowded.
