Royal Caribbean Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My fiancé and I are looking at having our wedding on a cruise ship (preferably on an oasis class ship). We would like to know....

How much did you pay for your wedding?

Did you have your wedding on the ship or on an island?

How much was a photographer/pictures?

Did you pay for a reception or did you just go to dinner with your guests after the ceremony?

And tips/suggestions?

Please post pictures if you have any!!!

Thank You!

Our son got married on OAS a couple of years ago but I can't remember how much they paid. I can tell you RCCL done a great job. Your guess will be escorted on and off the ship for the ones that are not sailing with you. Like the OP said it's all in brochure.

I have to say I have no experience with any wedding on a ship or a destination wedding reached by a ship. I do want to say though, getting married on an island, planning to get there by a cruise, it taking a huge chance. Look at those sailing next week who may have planned to get married in St Maarten etc. I am not talking only hurricane season, but there have been times the ship doesn't get to xyz and that might be where you planned your wedding. A couple wanted to get married in St Thomas a few weeks ago and the itinerary changed to San Juan a few days before sailing. Guests were flying to St Thomas and there was no wedding there.

I would either get married just before the cruise and have it be my honeymoon, or get married on the ship itself. I know getting married on the ship with a reception can be expensive, but it depends upon what you would want. I am not trying to discourage you, but it seems pretty chancy to me to plan a destination wedding unless you are flying there, and even then, hopefully it's not hurricane season. Good luck and I wish you a Happy Marriage.

We looked at the process to get married on a ship last year. In the end I did not want to spend that much money on a very private ceremony. It was going to just be my husband and I and I believe the starting price was $1000. In the end we put it off for a couple months and enjoyed our cruise last year. The money we saved paid for our cruise this year. In 24 days we will be on our second cruise and the day we leave is our 6 month anniversary.

I know this is not exactly the same, but we got married on a carnival ship. We had it done before the ship left and had 50+ people come to ceremony.(non cruisers had to leave before ship sailed) Then about 25 came on the cruise. I think it cost about $3000+, that included photos, cake, appetizers. It was cool as we were still in tux and wedding dress for muster drill. People remembered "the newly weds". They were very helpful. I know diff cruise line, but I think it would be similar.

There is a board dedicated to weddings at sea on this website, I suggest checking that out. Some have expressed displeasure doing their wedding on board, others have had an amazing experience.

We've considered doing a sailing that stops in St Thomas and doing a beach wedding there - since it is a US territory none of the hassle with marriage certificates and the cost is a bit more affordable than using Royal Caribbean.

Hi there, I have booked my wedding for Harmony of the Seas in October this year. I am travelling from Europe for this at Sea wedding. I have a lot of guests booking the cruise too to South Carribean. It is starting to add up. I went for the Ultimate love sry package which cost $3,600 then I am paying extra for the reception food and bar. We have the Dazzles venue for 3 hours so making the most of the staff I am allocated. The whole wedding will cost about $8,000 with over 50 guests. I am a bit nervous myself about the whole thing as this is only my 2nd ever cruise. I hope all goes according to plan.

I was married while in port on St. Thomas 10 years ago. We had really wanted a toes in the sand ceremony which is why we chose to do it while in port. There is a huge risk as the possibility of missing a port is always out there. We chose St. Thomas since it is an actual dock and rarely missed (as compared to a port you need to tender). It also aloud us to choose our vendors. I did hire a wedding planner on the Island to orchestrate everything and she was amazing. She (Janelle from Island Bliss Weddings) picked us up at the ship and whisked us away to get our license. We then had a jitney come pick up our guests and we all met at Megan's Bay. It was an amazing experience and I would not have changed it for anything. It was cost effective for us and was exactly what we wanted.

I just sailed on Oasis last month for my cousin's wedding. They were married on the first sea day in Dazzles. While the at sea wedding was not legally binding, she loved it. We had the venue, appetizers, cake and drinks for about 4 hours. Afterwards, we all went to the MDR for dinner together. She also had a 3 hour cocktail party later in the week included with the ceremony.

I do not know what she spent, but I know they were not extravagant and trying to keep costs down. About 28 people sailed with her to attend the wedding.

It was nicely done and we all really enjoyed getting to spend the week with them.

Thank you for your reply! $8,00 is still pretty good compared to traditional weddings on land. Did the $8,000 include a dj as well?

We got married on Voyager of the Seas on December 1, 2002.  I think it was about $1000 and included, pictures, frame, cake, champagne, flowers, music, etc.  It was just the 2 of us as it was second marriage.  And especially nice as they got the marriage license for us and everything.  Was married by Justice of Peace in Miami before we left port.    We are going on another RCI cruise for our 16th anniversary next week.
