countrymoon Posted December 8, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted December 8, 2005 :) So glad someone is out there reading. We were on the Sovereign November 7 - 11. Fantastic!!!! We went to Cocoa Cay Island, RCC's private island and Nassau. Had a memorable time. Did not want to leave the ship when we got back to Port Canaveral. So now I keep hearing great things about the Western Caribbean and I just have to go. While on the Sovereign we were on deck 2 in an OV, my Cruise Buddy and I. I had no problem with it, but I am trying to get her to commit to a Balcony since the cruise will be for 7 days instead of 4 like the Sovereign. You are right I am so HOOKED, my husband thinks I am nuts because it is all I talk about. I think he was hoping I would come home after the cruise and that would be the end of it. He is so wrong, and since he won't go with me he will have to suffer for the rest of his life by listening to me each time I want to go on a cruise or come back from a cruise. I had never gambled before and the first night on the ship I won $102 on the slots. EXCITING!!!!! I quit and went to the cabin, did not want to put that money back into the machines. I only started with 5 quarters. I would love to hear more about the Western Caribbean, it sounds wonderful! Countrymoon

All you will want to do is go on that next cruise. Your husband will need to give in just to not have to put up with you.:D
packedandready Posted December 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Hi Countrymoon, So glad you loved it. Same thing here DH and I never thought cruising would be anything we'd enjoy. Friends talked us into going with them about 2 years ago and now we're booked for #3. It seems as if you cruise once and never want to go again or get completely hooked. We'd cruise several times a year but the same "FRIENDS" hooked us on camping at about the same time and we bought a camper. So we have to split our time between our 2 loves.:( Now these "FRIENDS" are selling out and RVing full time leaving us to our addiction. We need new friends:D . And like other junkies, you're already seeking that bigger high, a more intense thrill--the Balcony! Soon you'll be logging onto these boards when you should be doing other things (notice the time of my posting?) neglecting day to day hygiene and other routine matters because you'll be trolling the internet for info and in search of a new itinerary or a week where the pricing seems really attractive. Then you'll move on to seriously reckless behavior and rationalization "hmm, if I skip that IRA contribution this year, I could take that 10 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean, hmm, never been to Tortola"...or "I've seen my family every year for X years for Christmas, but I've never seen a cruise ship interior all decorated or had Christmas dinner in a three story dining room, and hey, I can always see my family next year" ...and then finally "oooh, look at this, World of ResidenSea, I could own it and never have to leave..." Glad you enjoyed it. At then end of my first cruise the TA we used asked "when did we think we'd cruise again?" and our answer was "oh, sometime, but no time soon..." it will be 6 more cruises by the time we hit the 5th anniversary of that cruise...and more to come. I hope at some point your husband breaks down or find something on the cruise for him to focus on, either the bar or the casino or the food or just sleeping and doing nothing (think of the dad in the disney cruise commercial), since cruising will consume an ever-increasing portion of your waking hours. travellady Posted December 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Whatever you do, do not acknowledge your addiction. The first step to a cure is admitting you have something to be cured, and this is one thing I know I don't want to be cured from. I just learned we have to head to Europe this summer as my son was picked to play for a US soccer team in Sweden's Gothia cup. I'm really excited, but, it means we won't be cruising this summer :-). That means after our Xmas cruise, I only have 2 on the books for the next year - spring and fall.
LuvMyVette Posted December 8, 2005 #13 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Hey Countrymoon: So happy that you loved your first cruise. My first cruise was on Sovereign and at that time it was the "mega" ship. I nearly fell on the floor when I saw how huge that ship was and how the darn thing can float. It was an experience that I'll never forget and how my boyfriend (now husband) planned this entire cruise for me for my birthday and I didn't know a thing about it until I was on the plane! We are hooked on cruising as well. If we didn't have timeshares we would cruise more. You turn into a cruise junkie, you look at cruise websites all the time, you live on CC for information on cruises, meet new cruising buddies, etc. Yes I'm addicted to cruising as well but this is a fun addiction! I think many of us will agree to that one! Balcony cabins are awesome! DH/I did one for our 10th anniversary in July and it was unbelievable. We had beautiful sunsets, saw a rainbow, enjoyed the peace/quiet in the morning while having breakfast on the balcony, watched the ship dock/leave the port, etc. There are so many benefits to having a balcony. Yes it's more money but you have to try at least once. We've done nine cruises and for the first time have a B2B in September next year. First time for that but it's for my 40th birthday. We can't wait to go but it will be wonderful cruising for 14 days. Oh yeah.. and we're having a balcony for both cruises. Western Caribbean is really nice and we've done that a few times. Whatever questions you have please ask and if I can't answer them, then someone else can for you. Enjoy planning your cruise, talk about it all you want and have a blast doing your research. Make sure you sign up for the Crown & Anchor Society.. it's worth it. Have fun and welcome to the cruiser club! :D
