Price Drops

yes, but the request for price adjustment is made via online submission:

(here) https://www.carnival.com/core/requestforms/priceprotection.aspx

if you have OBCs from your original booking price, you could (will) lose those OBCs that were part of any promo.

do your full cruise fare cost math before requesting a price adjustment.

You can also call to get the price adjustment, but the online form is the quickest way. I have done both, and with the online form, you get an email back within 30 minutes confirming the price drop. You could also gain OBC with a price drop, if the fare in question includes OBC. Checking Carnival Fare Viewer (Google it), will tell you if there is any OBC to be had. If the lower fare does not specifically say that OBC is included, and you already have some, you will probably lose it if you grab the lower fare. Sometimes, though, it might be to your advantage to take the lower fare. As stated above -- do the math.

if you book the Early Saver rate, you are able to get the difference back in onboard credit if the price drops after you book the cruise. Its not automatic, you have to file a 'claim', and there are other cancellation caveats that you should make yourself aware of before you book under this price. For us, its been great. Welcome, by the way.

You can also just call Carnival toll free number and let them do the price adjustment.

Always ask for email confirmation, you usually have it before you hang up.

Does your cruise have to be completely paid off before you can request a price drop if you find it for less?

No. If you are before final payment, they will adjust the amount owed. If after, they will give you the difference in OBC.

No. But remember, when you submit a price match you ARE doing a rebooking thus your deposit amount could change.

All Carnival promos has different variables; like reduced deposits, OBCs, free category upgrades and more.

ITS NOT JUST SIMPLE MATH OF "IS MY FARE LOWER?"

It's the total value/cost of the reservation of what you have and what you're about to get.

Yes, the math can get a bit complicated. With each promotion, there is usually a new variable to factor in.

This needs further clarification about ES.....you are able to recoup money if the price drops on your cabin category up until 2-3 days before sailing with this fare BUT.....1. if the price drops between your 'booking' the cruise and the 'final payment date' and you have not paid in full yet, you will get the bottom line you still owe reduced to the new price! 2. If you have paid in full OR it is after 'final payment date', then the price reduction amount will be applied as on board credit for you to spend on board. Typically this is 'refundable' on board credit, so if you don't spend it, you will get it refunded at the end of the cruise.

Hope this helps you to understand price drops with ES!

All correct. We usually just pay the full amount when we book so ours is always in OBC. And yes, it is OBC that is refundable. We actually ended up with a $200 something check stabled to our bill summary on the last morning of one cruise ;p
