Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 19, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Halifax Chris and I got up at about 8 to make sure we had time for breakfast in the MDR before our excursion today. I ordered the roasted broccoli and cheddar scramble again, along with avocado toast. The scramble was fantastic again, and the toast was just a waste. The bread was way to heard, it wouldn’t cut! Our service this morning was fantastic though, a nice change from our previous breakfasts. I went back and made sure we had everything together for our excursion. Today our excursion was “Peggy’s Cove and Titanic.” It met at 11:30 outside the cruise terminal, and the guide was nice and the bus was in great condition. It was so different then the buses they use in a lot of the islands! The ride to Peggy’s Cove took about an hour, and it was beautiful, but the driver was not the best. I was nearly car sick by the time we made it to our destination, and Chris said he was the same way. Luckily we had an hour to spend in Peggy’s Cove, so we walked around and did some shopping and were both feeling better by the time we went to get back on the bus. It was breathtaking there, I can’t believe how gorgeous it was.

Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 19, 2017 Author #28 Share Posted October 19, 2017 We had about an hour ride back to Halifax, and it was again a rocky/bumpy/curvy ride and I was pretty ill feeling when we reached the Titanic Cemetery. We didn’t spend much time there, maybe 10 minutes? It was a welcome break though, and we learned some history of how Halifax and the Titanic were connected and how the bodies came to rest there. Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 19, 2017 Author #29 Share Posted October 19, 2017 We were back onboard about 3:45, and Chris and I both felt a bit ill still and decided maybe some food would help us feel better. We ordered room service, and it came within 15 minutes of our call. I got the BLT, which was great, Chris got a grilled cheese which he said was OK, and we split a piece of chocolate cake, which was great. I also got cookies for a snack for later, and they were yummy.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 19, 2017 Author #30 Share Posted October 19, 2017 I did a little packing (I know, still early for that but whatever!) and then it was time to clean up and head to dinner. Tonight I started off with the cream of broccoli soup, which was OK, then had the salmon cakes, which were AWESOME!! For dessert I went with the s’mores parfait, which as always was yummy. After dinner we headed to Frogfest in the Ocean Plaza to listen to the different muscians from around the ship. They were all good, but we didn’t stay long as we wanted to see Manny Olivera’s comedy show at 9. We saw him for the first time on the Vista in January, and he is a great comedian! He didn’t disappoint this time either. If you ever see him on a ship, you need to attend one of his shows. Just be aware that NOBODY IS SAFE from him, and if you are easily offended, leave! After Manny’s show we decided to call it a day. Tomorrow was our last port day, and it was sure to be an exciting one!

Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 20, 2017 Author #37 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Saint John Our last port stop on this cruise was in Saint John. We woke up at 8 and decided to have breakfast on Lido this morning. I chose a breakfast burrito from Blue Iguana, which was very yummy, and then I went back to the room to gather our things for the day. Today we were doing the “Bay of Fundy Whale Watching,” which met in the Sunset dining room at 9:45. Chris and I bundled up as it promised to be a cold day, then headed to meet the excursion. We had an hour and 15 minute bus rider to St. Andrews, and unlike yesterday neither one of us ended up sick. Hooray! The bus was brand new, we were only the second tour to use it, and our guide was so friendly. Once we got to St. Andrews we rode on our whale watching boat for an hour and a half into the bay where they had seen whales recently. We got to see 2 different whales, and we saw them multiple times! It was incredible, one of the best experiences I have had on a cruise. It was cold, cold, COLD, but amazing. We had 2 ladies onboard telling us about the whales (their names are Chevron and Gobblin), and in addition to the whales we saw 2 bald eagles and some porpuses. We were out there for maybe an hour watching the whales, then we headed back to town. Our guide gave us a half hour to explore, then we had to head back to the ship. We were late getting back, thanks to some stragglers, but it was all OK. We were in good moods from our amazing excursion. Tonight we had a 6:00 reservation for the steakhouse. Again I got the Portobello mushroom, spinach salad, lobster ravioli, and creamed spinach, and they were all the same as before….incredible, except for the spinach. I also got the mashed potatoes this time though, which are SO GOOD, and for dessert I got the cheesecake, which was good. After dinner we got in line at 8:30 for my favorite show onboard a Carnival Ship, EPIC ROCK! I love this show, and we got good seats in the bottom section of the Liquid Lounge. The show didn’t disappoint, in fact, Chris and I agree that the Playlist performers on this cruise were some of the best we have seen. After the show I was pretty tired so I decided to head back to the cabin to read for a bit. I was glad tomorrow was a sea day, and I could sleep in! Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 20, 2017 Author #38 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Sea Day 2 My cruise is ending! Wahhhhhhhhhhh!!! I slept in today until 9, and Chris and I had one last sea day brunch. We both got our VIFP drinks, which were delicious. Mine was a Bahama Mama, I'm not sure what he ended up getting. Of course I got my eggs benedict, which were great, and a grilled tomato, yum. The hashbrowns were also yummy, nice and crispy. I spent the good part of the morning packing and reading on the balcony. At lunchtime we went to Lido to get some provisions, I ended up with a Guy’s burger, which was yummy, and Chris got pasta from the pasta bar. It was also chocolate extravaganza day, I got my pudding I like and Chris got a piece of cheesecake. Both were good.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 20, 2017 Author #39 Share Posted October 20, 2017 The Platinum and Diamond party was at 2, and they opened the doors to the Liquid Lounge 15 minutes early….that’s a first! I drank lots of drinks and was feeling pretty good by the time the party ended. Hahaha. It started with one.... And ended with.....uhhhhh...I lost count. Some of the apps offered. These were great! These are my favorites though. Emma and the senior officers on stage
Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 20, 2017 Author #40 Share Posted October 20, 2017 I needed a nap afterwards, and I didn’t wake up until right before dinner. I honestly wasn’t very hungry, but Chris was, so we went down to the MDR. I got the Caprese for a starter, and it was Ok but nothing like Cucina’s, and then the cornmeal crusted chicken for my main, which was great but I only ate a few bites. I also got a side of cream spinach, and it was excellent tonight. To end things I got a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, which was good. I have to give a shout out to some of the individuals who made our MDR experience awesome. Jorge, our head waiter, was great, and Maria the hostess was so sweet. She would come by and talk to us each night, and she was just the most friendly, sweet person I have met in a while. Patrick the shot server was a hoot, he had us laughing each evening and even if we didn’t buy a shot from him he would talk to us. We went to Manny’s 9:00 show tonight, we couldn’t skip it, he is just too awesome. He was on fire tonight, oh my, that is all I can say! I think he got himself tickled. Unfortunalty tomorrow was going to be a LONG day with the trip home, so we called it a night early. Another great trip had come to an end. Time to start planning the next one! bitemebaby Posted October 22, 2017 #42 Share Posted October 22, 2017 We went on this cruise with you! It was the second leg of a back to back for us.That's my husband in the background of your first drink at Diamond/Plat party....small world. Great cruise, great ports, would love to do this same cruise again. Loved Boston- walked the entire Freedom Trail and went in all the places on it. We would vist Boston again in a heartbeat! The rain didn't damper our fun and we saw a white squirel - very rare, good luck at Boston Bunker Hill Beacon site. Portland- fun place to walk around, had a Lobster Roll at Gilbert's, shopped, went on a 100 year old train ride and museum tour, lots of old churches, pretty waterfront. Sadly took me an hour standing in giant line in hot sun to get back on ship at Portland- seriously messed up security process at Portland. I had my friend sit on a big rock in the shade who couldn't stand that long. Apparently this is how it is EVERY time they get back on cruise ship there, things need to change. Halifax- Citedel fort and Clocktower- free for Canada's 150 year of parks Celebration. Fun place, the workers were all in period costumes. Walked the waterfront, went on couple cool old ships- again free, Old burying grounds- moss headstones, old churches, public gardens. Loved this town! Next time would love more time here- could of used the two and a half hours they took off this port day. Staints Johns- Pretty town, walked to Market Square, walked waterfront paths, walked up hills top Fort Howe and St John's big sign on the hill, went to bunch of parks, churches, old marketplace- again a wonderful place . We saw lots of historic places, churches, beautiful scenery and lighthouses galore. That afternoon we took carnival tour to Bay Of Fundy and St Martin fishing village- beautiful drive, great tour guide. We got to spend half hour taking photos at fishing village of old boats, lobster traps, covered wooden bridges. Then Bay Of Fundy sea caves, tide was in so couldn't walk out but still pretty. We brought home a bunch of Wishing rocks from the beach- they have a white line that goes all round rock, make wish, when wish comes true you give rock away. Wonderful trip! And ended with.....uhhhhh...I lost count. Some of the apps offered. These were great! These are my favorites though.
