hammsz Posted October 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2017 About 1:45am on our way back to Norfolk from Freeport I noticed lights in the distance from our balcony. It looked like a coast. Turned on the TV and it appeared we were headed straight to Port Canaveral. Rumbling from crew members in the casino was that it was a 24 year old crew member that had a heart attack from drinking energy drinks. Although none of that is certain. We arrived in Norfolk 4 hours late. 90% of the passengers had no idea we came to a complete stop. Pretty dramatic footage from our balcony on 12. AlbaCrush Posted October 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2017 The Coast Guard stated that the man was 31 years old,but didn't mention what the medical condition was. http://coastguardnews.com/coast-guard-medevacs-man-from-cruise-ship-carnival-sunshine-near-port-canaveral/2017/10/24/
Mikew0805 Posted October 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2017 I hope he recovers. Also, *IF* there are energy drinks involved, I hope he stays away from them going forward.

crusinpsychRN Posted October 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Stay away from those energy drinks, dangerous, especially for kids.
ScottyZkaaayk Posted October 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2017 I heard of a kid that drank several energy drinks, as well as, several mountain dews, AND took a few 5 hour energy shots to stay awake for work one day.. It literally made his heart beat so fast that it exploded. I'm super paranoid so I'll never touch any of that stuff... ever.
joeyancho Posted October 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2017 That stuff is poison. I rely on the original energy drink.....coffee. He was probably drinking them to keep awake in order to do his long shift.
pls5286 Posted October 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2017 My stepson, as a teen drank too many energy drinks and went into a serious heart arrhythmia. He had to be shocked to get his heart back in a normal rhythm. He, nor any other of my kids, never use them now. Nothing stronger than Mountain Dew here, and that is only used when the caffeine is needed for migranes etc, or on a long drive.
