Treating relatives to dinner using OBC

Not sure if this has been asked or not....booked a cruise on Escape with the "take all 5" option. That includes 3 speciality restaurant dinners for my wife and I, but not our kids (3rd & 4th free), or my in-laws (staying in a different room - and using the Canadian at par option). As a part of our reservation we have some OBC. I am assuming that we can use the OBC for our kids if we want to bring them to one of our free dining dinners (as they are booked with us in our room). My question is - can we "pay" (use OBC) for my in-laws dinner, using our OBC if we would like to treat them to a dinner at a speciality dinner? Does NCL allow this?

There are no restrictions put on OBC other than getting it back in cash if it's nonrefundable (which it would be if coming directly from NCL). When it's time to pay for dinner, just give them your card and let them know you want the table charged to it. I would also specify though that you and your wife are using one of your SDP's for it as well. That way you're only charged for the extra folks and not the two of you.

Just give your server your card at dinner and tell her to put all the charges on it. How you pay the charges is up to you. NCL will use all your OBC for your charges until it is gone (they will not use it for the DSC or other items that are not allowed). You pay any balance due on the day of disembarkation.

If you think that you may use your OBC on other things ie: casino, photos etc.... you can always gift them a SDP.

If I read this right, someone can buy a Specialty Dining Plan for another passenger? I'm on an upcoming cruise with a friend who has a bunch of OBC and he's trying to figure out how to use it. Can he buy me a SDP once we are onboard, even if I'm in a different room? Can we do this before we board?

In reply to the OP. The easiest way is for you and your wife to have one tab using your roomcard and Specialty Dining Package perk. Then have a second tab for the other 4 at the table. They will charge the cost of the other 4 meals to a second tab to whoever's card (I suggest your wife's as it will go on your folio) is provided.
