Review of HAL Nieuw Amsterdam Cruise with lots of Photos & Menus

For a moment, I became very excited at the thought of someone finally posting a thorough review, with pictures, of the post-drydock N.A. Sigh. The wait continues!

 

That said, I, too, have worshipped this review since booking my cruise on the N.A. Outstanding work, Mike and Carol!

I recently returned from a cruise after dry dock. The Explorers Cafe is no more. Coffees and teas are prepared at the Crows Nest bar and there are no pasteries.

The casino bar was a nice set-up for sports watching. Now that it's been reportedly removed during the last drydock, has Billboard Onboard or another location taken it's place for viewing sporting events (like March Madness, NFL, etc.).

Mix has a nice sports bar in it. There is a photo of it in review.

 

 

 

Looked at the photos in your review, (great job btw) didn't see any bar area by the name of "Mix" nor do I see it on the deck plans. Is it near the casino?

In the first page, it is the third venue listed under the Lounges category. It is just around the corner of where the old one was. They just combined the three bars into the one Mix area.

Hope you can tell me about the music and shows on the Niew Amsterdam. We have been on 24 Celebrity cruises and only 2 HAL cruises. We're going on the Niew Amsterdam in three weeks. I find that Celebrity BLASTS their music to the point that it's almost painful (and possibly ear damaging:mad:) and certainly not enjoyable. That is one of the reasons we are going to try HAL.

How did you find the volume level on your trip?

I don't recall it being particularly loud, like on Celebrity; but since I don't remember it, it probably wasn't. Music is always loud in theater shows on both lines.
