As preivously stated besides US type sockets, there are European round sockets, which take Type C (flat) plug and Type F (round) plug.

See attached for photos of the various types of plugs:

You will need European / UK adapter (or multiple plug adapter see below)

thanks for that - do you know where we can get one of those multiplug adaptors online?

this will be very handy for our cruise to charge our iphones / fitbits

I purchased and have used on multiple cruises a 5 USB charger from Amazon made by Lumsing. We charge our phones, Kindles and tablets. It is too strong to used for Fitbits, those we charge in their dongles along with a separate plug.

Here's a link for the one I purchased.https://www.amazon.com/Lumsing-Intelligent-Charging-Andorid-Devices/dp/B013OVOO6M/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1513649495&sr=8-18&keywords=lumsing+usb+charger I've used it both at home and for multiple cruises. It charges quickly and has no surge suppresser. It is to strong for Fitbits, those need to be plugged in directly, but for phones, kindles and our tablets it works well. We have never had a question about it's being approved and leave it plugged in at the desk, so our stateroom attendants have all seen it being used. We carry it along with all our charging cords for our devices in our carry ons and it's never been questioned.
