I know most aren't americans, but please:

1. When the elevator opens let us get off before you push you way in.

2. While waiting for the port bus at civitavechia, please don't rush to the front of the line as the bus approaches. I physically blocked you at the bus door to let others who had been waiting for the last 10 minutes to get on, and I'll do it again :)

3. In the buffet line please remember it is a line. Common courtesy please even if it is foreign to some of you.

Lots of people on MSC are from England and my experience is that they are still the best people in the world when it comes to queing and waiting in a line.

 

I agree with you that many people aren't good at it but to wait in a line is not an American thing.

 

Lots of people are rude and they can be from any country in the world!

The staff seems to be nice. I saw one group barge into the front of the line to get off at Genoa. Someone further back mentioned it to a crew member who went up to the line cutters and escorted them to the back of the line. The look on the line cutters face ws priceless... like when a foul is called in a basketball game and the offender says who, Me?

Yes, avoiding sterotypes, but after noticing this for so many years, everybody is lining up properly, not in a British way, but properly, but many Italians are complety ignoring this concept.

I don't agree that it's a European thing not to wait in line but if it was, it's not a visiting Americans thing to act as "linepolice"! Live with it or leave is the answer.

 

Most Europeans probably think that the American tipping system is stupid (why not give everyone a decent salary and no tip is needed?) but if we shall visit America we have to live with it.

 

(Most Americans are very nice, I have American friends and a brother who lives there, but some are very ignorant and should probably not visit other countries.)

" vibe reading this. Relax and move on. Dont throw stone in glass house. Who gave you the authority to "physically block" other passengers?

 

Alternatively, go back cruising with Carnival...........

I am from the UK and it is a constant source of frustration when people skip queues, and barge into lifts (elevators!) before people have exited. It just doesn't make sense - it transcends 'cultural differences' - it's an extremely inefficient way to work.

 

If you push into a lift before people get off, it takes LONGER to get to where you want to go. Doesn't make sense at all. I will also physically block someone from skipping a queue, and physically move someone out of my way if they block my way out of a lift, when you make it clear you are trying to get off but they pay no heed. I am quite impatient generally, but if I can find it within me to wait in line, so will you.

 

I'm not attributing this behaviour to a particular culture, I'm simply saying if I catch you doing it, wherever you're from, you'll be told about it in one way or another (be it via the staff or me directly).

 

That said I'm sailing MSC again in February, luckily I have the drinks package, I can have a stiffener or two before lining up to disembark. :D

If there are people pushing around m when I am at the front of the line to get on the bus, and we've been waiting for 10 minutes and they just got there, and I have my parents in their 80s withbus, yes I will put my arm on the bus and block the cutters from running over me and my aged parents. Who made me the line police, I did, thank you very much. And I'll go back to crystal, not carnival thank you. Has nothing to do with the ship, just manners.

I agree with you - when people are pushing and shoving it can be quite dangerous, especially for elderly people and children. They could easily get knocked to the ground and injured. This happens all the time when trying to get on a bus especially.
