Blodges Posted January 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2018 :cool:We will be cruising with a group of 17, and it would be great if we could stay in touch while on the ship. There used to be an app called Cruise Text that did this... but I can't find it. Is there something like that out there? Has anyone used it? Husky61 Posted January 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2018 A quick way to find what you want is to use google rather than ask on these forums. It took me about 30 seconds to find Zello Walkie Talkie in the app store.:)

SRF Posted January 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2018 These all require wifi connection. And if you have wifi, you can send text messages or talk using VOIP systems (Skype, Whatsapp, Hangouts, IMO, etc).
CCC3 Posted January 30, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2018 We all buy internet packages, and then use Facebook messenger to communicate (uses WiFi), so we can leave our phones in airplane mode. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
new_cruiser Posted January 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2018 Zello is a good walkie-talkie app, but a texting app like Telegram that lets you text to a group may be a better choice. Telegram works better in low signal areas (which you may encounter as you move around the ship and on land). It also uses less bandwidth if that is a concern with your cellular or wifi plans. Also, unless you are going to be wearing an ear piece or head set all the time, texting won't disturb your fellow passengers or share your conversations with them the way that a voice walkie-talkie app like Zello would. I use both for playing an augmented reality game at times and both work well, but I always use a headset or bluetooth earpiece when using Zello.
