leaveitallbehind Posted February 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2018 Also in part of the Casino. The decks are outdoors on one side of deck 9 - which is the pool deck - and outdoors on the same side on deck 5 - which is the Promenade deck. These are the only smoking areas on the ship. All other outdoor areas - including balconies - and all other indoor areas are prohibited.
hockeygirl477 Posted February 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Additional question regarding smoking. I recently came across some information that it is illegal to smoke in public in Grand Cayman? Is this true still today? Saw that a law was passed back in 2009 or something making it illegal to smoke in public, but then again, Carnival Paradise (our ship) was first nonsmoking, but became smoking.... leaveitallbehind Posted February 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2018 I'm fairly certain the laws concerning smoking in public in Grand Cayman are still in place, but not sure what a change with policies on a cruise line would have to do with a country's regulations? leaveitallbehind Posted February 16, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2018 To add, I would also reconfirm Carnival's smoking policy as well.
SRF Posted February 16, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2018 On Grandeur, smoking in Port side (left facing forward). On the pool deck, it is under the upper deck, you will find tables with ashtrays. On the promenade deck, you will find smoking towers (the tall things to put your cigarette in) outside the doors to the promenade. My SO smokes. And we sailing on Grandeur in Aug. :D

In Grand Cayman, they are talking about prohibiting smoking in public PLACES...restaurants, bars, office buildings, etc. and it might include smoking on patios at restaurants (not sure). You're still allowed to smoke on the island. I just wouldn't try it anywhere there is a "no smoking sign."

If the cruise line changed the policy years ago, thought maybe the country did as well since it was put in place almost ten years ago. I haven’t cruised anywhere but the Bahamas three times previously so I’m excited for this cruise but we’re both smokers as is my friend who planned the trip. You may want to double check your cruise line's current policies as most that I am familiar with are becoming more stringent and regulated on smoking, not less. And as another clarified, the public smoking policies on Grand Cayman are relative to public buildings and places, not in general on the island. Also similar to most cities in the US in recent years. Enjoy your cruise.
