Anybody know for sure if Mariner will have

ice skating or ice skating shows when the shorter

itineraries happen in July, the Bahamas out of Miami?

Just seems those skaters will be performing a lot more....

or if their contracts only allow the same number of performances

per month....less shows per cruise.

No public announcements have been made by the company with regard to ice skating shows.

Mariner Of The Seas deck plan changes 2018 refurbishment review

The ship’s scheduled for 2018 drydock refurbishment (May 8 - June 24, in Freeport Bahamas) will result in the following deck plan changes:

  • On Sports Deck 13, the RCI’s signature waterslides “Cyclone” and “Typhoon” (high-speed racing slides.) will be installed. Also on deck 13 will be added FlowRider (surfing simulator), Sky Pad (bungee trampoline with optional virtual reality headset) and laser tag ("Battle for Planet Z" / glow-in-the-dark gaming room in the Studio B complex). The new water park and the duo of waterslides (called "Perfect Storm") were first introduced on the ships Liberty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas (Oasis-class).
  • On Spa Deck 12 (aft), the new “Slashaway Bay” kids aqua park will be added. This is a new-design interactive water play area with cannons and geysers. It will replace the Outdoor Youth Area (aka “back deck”).
  • On Deck 15, the "Skylight Chapel" (wedding room) will be replaced with "The Observatorium" (Escape Room by Puzzle Break). The Escape Room provides adventure game experiences (team building exercises) for a group of players who solve a series of puzzles by using clues, hints and group strategy. The team is given a set time limit to solve the puzzle (secret plot hidden within the room).
  • "The Golden Room" nightclub ((Deck 3 / lower level 1 of 2) will be replaced with staterooms, while the upper level (Deck 4) will be replaced with Izumi (Japanese restaurant at fee, with Teppanyaki table-side grills).
  • Photo Gallery was moved from Deck 4 to Deck 3. On Deck 4, replacing the Photo Gallery were added "Playmakers Sports Bar" and Arcade Room.
  • "Dragons Lair " nightclub ((Deck 3 / lower level 1 of 2) was replaced with staterooms, while the upper level (Deck 4) was replaced with Izumi (Japanese restaurant at fee, with Teppanyaki table-side grills).
  • Photo Gallery was moved from Deck 4 to Deck 3. On Deck 4, replacing the Photo Gallery were added "Playmakers Sports Bar" and Arcade Room.
  • (deck ?) Jamie's Italian Restaurant (Mediterranean cuisine specialty dining venue), The Bamboo Room (Polynesia-themed cocktail bar), Playmakers (sports bar / Arcade Games)
  • To the ship will be also added new staterooms. All existing staterooms will be renovated / updated.

Thank you for the detailed information. Do you know what will serve as the nightclub now that Dragon's Lair is gone?

Thanks for compiling this! According to the deck plan, it looks as if studio interior staterooms will be added on Deck Two, in the same location as on Adventure. Yay for us solos!

Yes, thanks for info.

However, when I toggle between the old/new dates (on deck 3)

the words "Center ice rink" disappear, hmmmmm.

I won't book until I know for sure...sounds like nice

refurb for the kids, but we like those skate shows.

Some of this info is incorrect.

  • Dry dock is in Cadiz, Spain, not Freeport.
  • Spashaway Bay was never announced as being included in the refurb.
  • Photo Gallery is not being moved. It is remaining on deck 3.
  • Playmakers is being added on the Royal Promenade. It is not replacing the photo gallery like this mentions.
  • Jamies Italian is being added to deck 11 by the Windjammer.
  • The Bamboo Room is being added on the Royal Promenade.
