I am loving your report so far. We sail on the Oasis in three weeks, and your post will help me get through these long weeks.

I feel your foot pain! After having foot surgery in Dec. and being in a cast for 7 weeks (non-weight bearing) and a boot for 4 weeks, I finally was able to throw my boot away a week ago. I know you are so happy to be able to get rid of it on the ship. I am concerned my choice of footwear on my cruise in 21 days. Chacos are great for daytime wear, but I don't know what I am going to do for dinner attire.

Ugh.... I know what you mean....generally I’m not a huge “shoe” person, but I do have a nice selection of cruise sandals and love pairing them up with sundresses. [emoji17] I am even more aware of other people’s footwear choices-suffering from serious shoe envy!

Absolutely love your writing style! Not too wordy but really witty and fun to read and your pictures are awesome. Your dogs are beautiful, golden girls LOL.

Following along for sure. I have not done RCL yet, done NCL, Carnival, Disney and currently stuck on Celebrity with one booked this October, but really want to sail RCL and debating Allure or Freedom for a next cruise and maybe booking one when on board. I really like Celebrity (for the reduced smoke and not feeling crowded) but personally feel their entertainment is boring and lacking and I keep thinking an RCL ship might be in order.

Enjoy your trip!!!!!

Thank you! For a less crowded feel, and better entertainment, Allure would be my choice. Other than muster, and getting out of shows, oasis class ships do a better job of disbursing the masses, than freedom class, in my opinion anyway.

As far as smoking goes, if you avoid the casino, And the very limited outdoor smoking areas on the pool deck, I think you will be fine!

Chris,

Glad to see I caught up before you left port. Thanks for doing the live report. I will be sure to pay it forward on our Ovation cruises in April.

Awesome news, Bill! Always look forward to your trip reports and great photos.... where will you be taking us? [emoji847]

Following your review.

I have a Bar/Lounge question. When I was on the Harmony last year they did not have Jim Beam for sale. Could you please go to a Lounge or Bar and ask if it is available?

Yes, I will check for you today, and report back

Chris, while you are sleeping, place your injured leg on 2 extra pillows to help reduce your swelling.

Great tip! Our cabin steward is taking good care of us. [emoji3] plenty of pillows.

Hoo-hoo-hoo-Hoosiers! My husband and I also both left our wallets in Bloomington, though for our own education. Hope your freshman loves it as much as we did.

And we also love the Allure! Looking forward to your review!

Lol, your hoo hoo Hoosier comment had me giggling—-we were at the IU Wisconsin game this year and had a great time... for the first quarter anyway [emoji12]she is loving it tho.... beautiful campus, and she just rushed last month and got into a sorority, so she making lots of new friends.

Welcome to Day 2! I was up ridiculously early this morning, and a nap will most definitely be on my agenda if I have any plans of making it thru Mamma Mia this evening, which isn’t over until Midnight.... lots of pics and info to post this morning. Going to be taking it easy today, and really need to minimize my walking so I am top of my game for Labadee tomorrow. [emoji123]

Cabin pics and compasses coming up next....

Grand Suite on Deck 6...this is a perfect location. Even deck wise, regardless of cabin category. Steps to the boardwalk, one deck down to the promenade, 2 up to Central Park. You can pretty much use the stairs, anywhere from this location, and only use the elevators to go to the pool decks. Unless, of course, you have a foot injury like me. I’m now “that” person who annoys the heck out of everyone taking the elevator up one floor [emoji849]

This makes me seriously happy....the last few times we’ve sailed Oasis class ships, there was NO place to get coffee until 6 am on debarkation morning, and the choices were limited. Diamond Lounge and the windjammer was it! On our last sailing on Harmony, I stood outside the windjammer at 6 am with scads of other surly passengers waiting for a cup of coffee. [emoji35] don’t understand why cafe promenade is open 24 hours on every other ship, including debarkation morning, except Oasis class. Maybe this has changed since my last sailing—if it has, you’ll have me to thank since I’ve noted this on every comment card, and may have even sent an email or two or ten expressing my displeasure.

Coffee maker! [emoji7]

As you’ve probably already figured out, I enjoy my coffee in my morning. Tip #1 for you coffee lovers out there is to invest in one of these. If you want more than a shot glass of joe, and like it to stay warm for more than 5 minutes, this is a good investment. Available at the shops on board. I own a few of these, but this is definitely the Cadillac of models, and wrapped in genuine “pleather”, which surely warrants the $21 price tag! [emoji12] since it’s logo gear, you can use your C & A discount [emoji106]

Speaking of C&A discounts, if you are a fan of those complementary shortbread cookies, they are no more! [emoji15] Royal has heard you all, loud and clear! Only fresh baked cookies upon your arrival. Tip #2, pack some ziplocks if you want to enjoy some cookies on the plane ride home, and probably best to get some fresh ones at cafe promenade on day 7

Can you get a cup of coffee and some form of breakfast really early, like 4 or 5am? All my life I've always gotten up early, like 3 am, never used an alarm clock either. Watching your trip, I'm interested in a first time cruise.

You can get coffee and snacks from Cafe Promenade, almost 24 hours.

The Suite Lounge is accessible 24 hrs a day with your seapass card and has a great coffee machine that makes delicious capaccinos. There are usually creamers available, but I tend to keep extra in my cabin as a backup. Following along brings back fond memories as we sail on her again in Dec in a GS. Seeing your cute decorations gave me the idea to bring decorations for any occasion on my upcoming cruises as we usually only decorate on Xmas cruises.

Just catching up with my coffee Chris, and thanks for posting the day at a glance. We return to Allure in September. Even though our itinerary is different than yours, it does give me and idea of what to expect.

Take it easy on your foot. You might want to climd the stairs though to the suite sundeck and relax. I bet it would be great for an afternoon nap.

Thank-you.

Breakfast at the Wipe Out cafe this morning. One of my favorite spots.... made to order eggs, and the pretty standard windjammer breakfast items, buffet style. Generally pretty quite area, and nice view
