Rare FlyingScotSailors Posted April 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2018 If you are in Barbados on a Friday or Saturday before your cruise, you should have dinner at Oistin's fish fry. Multiple stalls grill or fry different fresh fish, served with various sides at shared tables. Bands play music and visitors and locals enjoy together. The local beer is, well, inexpensive. We took a local van-type "bus", which was entertainment in itself, for $1Bds per person . We thought we got the last seats, but they managed to get 6 more on after us! gerelmx Posted April 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2018 I have never done, but a lot of friends and CC members recommend the Calabaza tours
LittleRedJohn Posted April 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2018 We have had great fun at the lunch buffet at the Atlantis Hotel, on the quiet east side of Barbadoes. The Atlantis is like Barbadoes used to be. You look down at the crashing surf, and there's nothing between you and Africa except water. We've found taxi drivers to be perfectly good guides, just negotiate with them beforehand to make sure you have a good driver. LittleRedJohn Agreed, we had an excellent tour around the entire island in one of the taxi's that was waiting outside the port gates. It included a stop for lunch at a small informal restaurant where we had dolphin (mahi) and breadfruit. Really good.
OCruisers Posted April 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2018 Be sure to have some Flying Fish ... national dish of Barbados! The flying fish sandwich is called a "Cutter"! Yummy! :)
yeah!!! Posted April 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2018 I would recommend a sunset or day cruise with Silver Moon. The Silver Moon II is a 45 foot Catamaran and they only take 12 people. Great cruise, snorkeling, food and drinks, and a very attentive crew.
cruisr Posted April 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2018 The Concorde Museum. I had the privilege of flying Concorde in 2001. It was the most incredible aviation experience. Loved every minute of it.
