DancersImage Posted May 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We will be flying into Dublin in June and need transportation to our Hotel located on Upper O'Connell Street. Can anyone recommend a reliable transportation service that we can pre book or should we just get a taxi at the airport? We are a party of two. Thanks
Tiggertastic Posted May 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Sounds like you’re near the Gresham, the 747 bus stops outside or any cab at the airport will have you there in 20 minutes Sent from my iPad using Forums
2ndhoney Posted May 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We used the Aircoach bus (can be bought ahead of time or at airport). We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Upper O'Connell. The stop for this hotel was at the Gresham Hotel. Return trip bus was across the street. Cost was 22 Euros for the two of us. Luggage goes under the bus. Airlink is also a good choice. There are luggage racks when you get on and it's a double decker bus. This can be booked at airport as well.
gold1953 Posted May 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2018 it is under 20 Euro for a taxi but you need cash unless you prebook on an APP
jkgourmet Posted May 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2018 the app that gold1953 referred to above is called MYTAXI. (it had another name previously - Hailo). It works just like Uber/Lyft. Sign up ahead of time, connect the account to your credit card, hail the cab using the app, the driver gets paid by your credit card through the app. Note that the Air Coach and Air Link buses are TWO different companies and have TWO different schedules and stops. The folks over at the TripAdvisor forum for Dublin are very helpful with the transportation in their city.
CruisinNewb Posted May 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We used a car service because we had a lot of luggage but in the future I'd just use a taxi. Easy to get one at the airport. We took a taxi from our hotel on Upper O'Connell and I think the price was around 20 euro.
cruzzzinma Posted May 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We just got a taxi at the taxi stand and paid by credit card.
jelayne Posted May 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2018 We are on the same cruise and our hotel is the 2nd to last stop for the Air Coach we bought tickets online for 16€ for both. Our hotel is on Lower Lesson St and the stop is across the street- sounds pretty convenient.
Iamthesea Posted May 16, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 16, 2018 We had no problem getting a taxi at the airport. Very efficient service outside the airport. ;)
jkgourmet Posted May 16, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 16, 2018 We are on the same cruise and our hotel is the 2nd to last stop for the Air Coach we bought tickets online for 16€ for both. Our hotel is on Lower Lesson St and the stop is across the street- sounds pretty convenient. I was a bit confused by this, so I thought it best to clarify for future readers who search for "Air Coach". There are several routes for AirCoach, at least two that cover Dublin. Jelayne is spot on for Route 700 which goes to City Centre. We are going to Dun Laogharie, which is a bit farther and s:*outh of the City Centre. We will be on Route 703. We opted not to buy tickets online. Ours are €20 for both of us on the bus, €19 online. Regardless, the Air Coach is less than half the cost of a taxi and just as easy (assuming your destination is near a bus stop.) The other airport bus is AirLink I'm not too familiar with it. Different company, different routes, but you can use some of the multi-day Dublin transit cards to ride on it.
