Rare APDMOM Posted July 5, 2018 Author #379 Share Posted July 5, 2018 Is the menu week two the same as week one? Yes, the menu repeated, but I am not sure it is the same order. Lobster night was on the second formal night both weeks.

Rare APDMOM Posted July 5, 2018 Author #386 Share Posted July 5, 2018 We booked a car through Expedia from Thrifty. I highly recommend booking in advance. We paid $43.99 (Canadian) for an SUV. A gentleman in front of us wanted to rent a car, and was quoted $75 for a small sedan. Tip: If you book from Thrifty, you pick the car up in the lobby of the Westin. If you book from Enterprise, you pick the car up next door at the railway station. We stood in line at the railway station at first, just to find out we were in the wrong place. We had a very positive experience with Thrifty. I highly recommend them. The only bad thing is that they only allow one driver. You have to pay $13.99 extra for a second driver. This was not a problem for us, but something to keep in mind if you need more than one driver. Tip: The Westin is right by the pier. My GPS made us walk all the way around 3 blocks, but you can just enter the Westin from the back parking lot. The tall brown building is the Westin: Just walk around the corner of this restaurant, cross the street, and enter the hotel from the back parking lot:
Rare APDMOM Posted July 5, 2018 Author #387 Share Posted July 5, 2018 We drove to Peggy’s Cove, and I will let the Views convince you to go. A lookout point before arriving at Peggy’s Cove (We drove the loop clockwise): Views from the Visitor Center at Peggy’s Cove:
Rare APDMOM Posted July 5, 2018 Author #388 Share Posted July 5, 2018 Tip: If you are able to, park at the Visitor Center and walk all the way to the Lighthouse. It is fairly easy, you just have to walk down one hill, and up another. It is such a beautiful and charming town, you will not want to miss these views along the way:

Cruisingmarmi Posted July 5, 2018 #393 Share Posted July 5, 2018 Wonderful pics and info of Halifax! We're on a list for a tour that will be $100 ok...waiting on need that we get another couple or 2. This company has great reviews! However, your cost of car sure beat the price!! Were there any issues in travel? We also go to Lunenberg and a couple of other spots. We can maybe do on our own. What was your time there and travel time? Thanks for any additional insight. Marty
Rare APDMOM Posted July 5, 2018 Author #394 Share Posted July 5, 2018 After our visit to Peggy’s Cove, we stopped at Rhubarb for lunch. It was very good, but higher priced than we typically spend on a lunch out. Five of us ate for $80 (Canadian). Marty Hi, Marty! We could have easily worked in more stops for our trip. We got a bit of a late start due to waiting at the wrong rental company office. We had no issues driving in Canada. We maintained the speed limit, as we did not want to risk getting a ticket in a “foreign” country. Travel was definitely easier than we had anticipated. You can be at the rental office by 9:30, and return the car by 4:30 - easily making it back to the ship for the 5:30 all aboard. We had 3 hours to spare after our trip to Peggy’s Cove - just to give you an idea. We stayed at Peggy’s Cove for about 1 hour, stayed at the restaurant for about 45 minutes, and made 3 additional stops of 10 to 15 minutes each. We typically enjoy arranged tours for the additional history information and ability to relax. However, with 5 people it is much better to rent a car. Enjoy planning!
