Flyby Posted July 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Any recommendations for a hotel around Miami with a good pool for kids? It's a bonus if there is shopping and restaurants nearby. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
JohninDC Posted July 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Most of the suggestions are to stay downtown, where you'll find lots of local dining and shopping options within walking distance. The Mary Brickell area (Hampton Inn and others) and the area around Bayside Market (Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc.) are often suggested. Are you flying into MIA? Or FLL?

Rare Keith1010 Posted July 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I would check out the Intercontinental and the Marriott Marquis. Both are near lots of restaurants and are within about a 5 to 10 minute drive from the port. Keith
JohninDC Posted July 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Fewer nearby restaurants, but the pool at the Doubletree is amazing!
bettyboop16 Posted July 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2018 Fewer nearby restaurants, but the pool at the Doubletree is amazing! That's the biggest pool I've ever seen at any hotel I've been in. We stayed 2 nights this past Feb. Nice hotel! There is a small mall adjacent to the hotel with restaurants. Metro Mover stop is a short walking distance away where you can get to Bayside, shopping & other restaurants. :)
gpnfish Posted July 21, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2018 As mentioned, doubletree has nice pool, as does Marriott next door, which is where we stay all the time. Also, there is a great Italian restaurant, Primo’s, in the Marriott/doubletree complex, that is worth checking out! cruisegal40 Posted July 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 21, 2018 Which Doubletree. There seems to be a few when I attempted to "google" it.
JohninDC Posted July 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 21, 2018 The one on Bayshore Drive with a Marriott next door (the hotels share a parking garage).
obobber Posted July 22, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Are there any hotels with free shuttle service for both airport and cruise port?
JohninDC Posted July 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Are there any hotels with free shuttle service for both airport and cruise port? Not if you want to stay downtown - only a few of the MIA airport area hotels offer "free" airport and port shuttles. Okay if you are flying in late and just want a room, but you will not be able to enjoy local Miami dining and nightlife options without spending your "savings" on taxis and Uber. Find a hotel that fits your needs and budget, and then figure out your own transport - taxis and Uber and Lyft are easy and the distances are not great. From MIA to downtown hotels in UberX or standard Lyft will be just under $20 for the car, and another $10 ride will get you to POM the next morning. musik07 Posted July 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Hampton Inn Brickell has a pool. It isn't huge but it works! We stayed last summer and are staying this Friday again. We enjoy the fact that you can go to the Bayside area and anywhere else the Metromover takes you easily. There is also a public, 7-11, starbucks and CVS close by. It was about $16 to take an Uber XL to the port the next morning.
cruisegal40 Posted July 22, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 22, 2018 We also stayed at the Hampton in Brickell. We got in at 2:00 a.m. and the staff was nice and accommodating after being in airports for over 18 hours. Didn't see much of the area, however, the hotel is nice and clean
