Eventually arriving at bananarama resort in West Bay. The other passengers were shown to their loungers, and I took a couple pics of the beautiful beach, and clear blue water.

Orlin, my driver agreed to drive me up to West End, which is a small diving and fishing village a few miles away. He dropped me off at the southernmost end of the village, and I told him I would catch the water taxi back to West Bay in a couple of hours. The first place I wanted to visit was titas pink sea horse, a tiny hut on the edge of the water.

It was around 11:30 ship time, which is 9:30 Roatan time, so as my luck would have it, they weren't open yet.

Well, at this point I'm on my own, so I started walking North towards the main part of the village.

I came to a small market on the side of the road where they were making baleadas, Honduras' most famous breakfast dish, so I went in and ordered.

Afterwards, I explored some more, and because I hadn't eaten in almost a whole hour, I stopped into another place that I've heard has lion fish tacos. Gingers Caribbean Grill.

IMG_20181003_125049304_HDR.thumb.jpg.e1b46d2cdd7c4a4fae1f64d6b4795081.jpg

And, of course after coming 3,000 miles, they didn't have any lion fish today, so I had wahoo tacos.

Totally agree about people that never venture out in Roatan- we *loved* the beaches in the West end area. The beaches are so beautiful there, even if a bit narrow. The mountains are beautiful and the foliage...well, you get the idea!

Since I couldn't really eat anymore, I walked around for a bit, and popped into a couple of random places.

I came across a fisherman on the dock cleaning a huge barracuda.

I figured that I'd better start heading for the water taxi, and make my way back to West Bay beach.

This hunk of junk would be my chariot back to West Bay.

IMG_20181003_132243383.thumb.jpg.d3dab2a4caf3528cd66da59aaa9f05e1.jpg

And, we're off...

The boat actually survived all the way to our destination, and I went to let Orlin know I made it back.

I wanted to have a swim, so I put my phone and money away in my fancy beach bag, and headed out into the beautiful blue water.

IMG_20181003_140443882.thumb.jpg.e09d1a4afc365777deeda3282768e27b.jpg

And, just like yesterday, a few minutes later it started to pour down rain. I was already in the water, so I just stayed there, I was wet already anyway.

Pretty soon, the others that rode with us today were ready to head back. We were all soaked, the ground was muddy with huge puddles everywhere. We got in the van, and about a half hour later we were back at the ship.

That's pretty much been my day up until now. I'm going to have a shower and go have a few drinks and see what looks good for dinner tonight... Will continue in a bit...

Great Review!!! We were at West Bay Beach this past April when we sailed on the Getaway. We met you two years ago when we were on the Escape and you lead the Meet and Greet. We have been reading all your reviews and I agree that the cruise lines need to hire you as a writer and travel advisor. We are doing our 1st Carnival cruise next April aboard the newly renovated Triumph, which will be known as the Sunrise. Come on along with us on that one if you can find the time.

Thanks so much... I wish I could come sail with you, but my budget tells me otherwise.

Maureen at Alchemy threw down some Roca Patron and some other stuff, with a hint of watermelon... Today may be one of the only times that I'll likely not get my value out of the Cheers package. I have to be up and at em at six o'clock tomorrow morning to get the ball rolling for my flight to Caye Caulker.

I am really enjoying your review. Thank you for the pics and commentary of your day in Roatan. That is my favorite place to go.
Wait till tomorrow... My adventure in Caye Caulker should be legendary...

While we're at a stopping point, I was at the Alchemy Bar the other night, and Ravi noted that I was signing my receipts with a real ink pen. He said that he used them back home in school.

He made me a very special drink the other night, with camphor brought from his home country. I decided that I would give him my pen, I have a few more like it at home that I bought on Amazon... He was moved by the gesture, and we had a moment together. (Not a gay moment, but just emotional... Not that there's anything wrong with that) Anyhoo, here's a picture of the pen.

I can't believe I took three pictures of a pen... It is a pretty special pen, so what the he!!...

Have a great time a Caye Caulker tomorrow! I have wondered about alternative means of getting there, so I will be watching with great interest. We are on the 10/14 Magic, and Coral Breeze did not cancel our trip, so that is how we are getting there.

The Lazy Lizard has been remodeled since I was last there many years ago, and I have a feeling that you might find your way there, if I judge the theme contained in this thread correctly.

I am really enjoying the review - have a great time and I appreciate the effort that a review like this takes!

This is something from the port of call section of the menu. It had some type of Spanish name, it's some kind of fish... By the way, the beef tenderloin was much better than I expected.

The waiters in the MDR must be getting some kind of incentive to push alcoholic beverages... The waiter keeps coming by and saying "you're drinking too slow, you need to order another one" I won't bend too peer pressure...
