Need information about customs

We are doing a B2B on Serenade next year out of Copenhagen. I am trying to figure out our return flight. When do we go through customs? Is it when you arrive back in the USA on your flight or before we fly out of Copenhagen?

You do exit customs when you leave CPH

 

And do US customs (longer) when you arrive at your first US airport

Right now, only Ireland, Canada, and Bahamas have pre-clearance.  So you do immigration and customs before you depart.

 

Customs is not long in the US, but immigration lines can be VERY long.

 

You will also clear immigration upon leaving Copenhagen.  Last weekend, leaving Frankfurt for another EU, but not Schengen country, immigration took almost 45 minutes.   And security lines were moderately long (I have status, so got the short line for security).
