If you're not concerned about being able to make and/or receive phone calls...  You might look into renting a Skyroam.  It's a wifi hotspot that works just about all sailing locations in the Caribbean.  It's $9.95/day and included unlimited data.  https://www.skyroam.com

If you're on AT&T, they actually have a cruise ship plan now that includes NCL.  If you sign up for one of the two ship plans, it includes data/calls while in most all ports as well (using your existing plan data).  Other carriers may have similar Cruise Ship plans too.  https://www.att.com/offers/international-plans/cruise-packages.html

$100 one time charge for 30days and they only give 200megs data.  😞

I was just throwing ideas out there for you...  The 200mb is a deal killer for sure to me on that plan.  I would consider the $50 plan for the text/calls though if I needed that ability.

I personally don't care so much about checking anything while on board the ship...  So I usually just use the International Day Pass for AT&T which I think runs $10/day...  This uses your existing plan data limits and is also available in most all ports (but NOT on the ship).  The day pass is good for 24 hours so if we have two back-to-back port days, I'll start a day pass around noon on one day so I can then use it the following morning as well.  With several days of back to back ports, you can get away with using a pass every other day...

This is likely what I'm going to do on our January Dawn cruise.  Aruba/Curacao back to back for one pass...  And then two other day passes to cover 4 of the remaining 5 ports.  $30 bucks for a 10 day trip essentially.  And we have a free 250 min. package on board as a perk too.

If you are with AT&T $10/day will let you use your phone as if you are at home. Also St. Thomas is US and no different than calling from NYC. On some AT&T plans also include Mexico.

Bottom line know what is included in your plan and whether there are any deals from the carrier.
