Dead Space Decks 3 and 2 Radiance Class Ships

I'm wondering what this dead space is next to these cabins. Anyone know? 

 

 

Also, deck 2 (shown below) doesn't have cabins on the starboard side. Is that area crew cabins? I was once on a Celebrity ship on a low deck and it turned out that I was just above the big exit doors. It  was terribly noisy.

I am guessing crew or work areas.  Those lower decks are a combination of various crew areas.

 

As far as those specific areas, I have no clue.

 

We were on deck 3 of the Radiance in 2001 (don’t remember exact cabin except it was mid ship) and I don’t remember any noise or anything.  We were on a cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii.

I would be very surprised if there were crew cabins on the same deck as passenger cabins to avoid fraternization (ah remember the good old days ?).  Unless there is a permanent barrier between the 2 sides of the deck

Probably not crew cabins, but crew spaces, medical section, etc.

If there are guest cabins on deck 2, (I only thought passengers were on 3), then there are definitely crew/ship stuff on deck two.  Definitely not a guest only level.

I don't know about the specific areas that you posted but I would be very hesitant to book a cabin next to any dead space or white space on the deck plan.

 

 I did that once on Serenade and it turned out to be a service door used by the crew. When room service started at 6:00 am (or whatever ungodly hour it starts), the door was banging away. Which is not good for this night owl that likes to close down the casino (points 2 thumbs at himself)  .

Voyager class (and I suppose Freedom too) has crew cabins as well as passenger cabins on deck 2.

The crew access their cabins via doors that say 'Crew only' near the aft stairwell. The only 'fraternization" that can happen is near that stairwell.

Yes, pretty common on older ships to have a group of passenger cabins on the lowest deck sharing with crew cabins and spaces, just as everything forward of the medical center is crew cabin as well.  The area you are questioning on deck #3 is mostly the engine casing, where the engine exhaust runs up to the funnel.  I suspect the small area delineated on the port side just forward of the elevator may be a service pantry.
